Rumor: Raptors trying to move up to #5??

This was posted over at RealGm, apparently this guy has posted stuff in the past that was credible. But take it for what it's worth, which at this point is very little.

If true i'd throw in Derozan, Davis and try to get Evans included.

Derozan, Davis, #8, #37

for

Evans, #5 (Barnes or MKG)

hey guys,

feel free to merge this with the draft thread, but just got a little tidbit from my inside soure with the raps. I just found out that they have been actively shopping our pick and an asset (not sure if it is one or multiple players) for SACs pick. SAC is seriously considering it, but the deal is no where near finalized OR is it fully agreed upon.

Apparently the hope is to draft either barnes (or beal depending on the board). They are really high on barnes and feel he will compliment our team on both ends. I don't know what that means for our pursuit of a FA SF, but i would love to see him in a raps uni.

Thought I would share some insights, and leave it for discussion. How do you all feel about this, and what assets would make the most sense to give up? I was thinking one of our front court players, but doubt SAC would need it.

I really like this idea, but I guess that it depends on the specifics of the trade.

I'd rather give up DD, Amir rather than ED, JV, because I think that we pretty much know what DD and Amir's ceilings are at this point.

If Sac really likes a guy that falls to them at 5 they might just keep the pick, so they're probably just investigating options if their favored prospects aren't available - I don't think a deal can be final before the 4th pick is called.

I dont think you need to throw in the 37th pick but thats just me...

I like where this is going though...

Hey do you think if we were to trade for Evans that we could pick up Reggie from LA as well?
Or do u think Reggie's ship has sailed in T.O.

I could see the Kings trading down to acquire someone like Henson or maybe Rivers or Waiters while acquiring another asset. The Raps and Kings seem to be good fits to swap picks. I like the idea, and I don't have a problem with dealing ED and/or DD if it means moving up and also getting #5 and another player like Evans.

Although I do like T.Evans, he has some issues (his mentality, etc), hopefully DC would be able to help him out. Also, with Evans on the team, the PG better be willing to give up the ball to T.Evans and better be able to shoot the 3 consistently.

If we do end up getting Nash we dont have to worry of Evans or whoever needing a ball in their hands too much

Looks like carp and I are geniuses, that trade has been postulated several times already here on RF except without the 37th pick - he must be on our trade thread Personally I don't care, throw in the 37th if it means a line-up of Nash/Evans/Barnes/Bargs/JV. That would be a fantastic off season IMO.

With Sac I like the Cousins/Davis front court and if the team drafts a player like Lillard to play with Thornton and move Thomas back to the bench and have DD the sixth man it would be a pretty good off season for sac as well I think.

Lillard/Thornton/Salmons/Davis/Cousins with DD, Thomas off the bench, that's pretty nice IMO

I'd give them the other 2nd rounder as well although I still wouldn't mind if the raps could somehow deal both 2nd rounders for OKC's 28th pick.

getting evans and then bringing nash would make evans redundant without the ball in his hands

With Philadelphia holding a private workout for M.Teague and Toronto suddenly interested in J. Henson, It's possible a Raptors/76ers trade involving assets and the #8 for A. Igoudola and the #15th could come to fruition. I think the prospects discussed are at positions the opposite teams needs more depth at.

If I'm Toronto, I'd do that swap if they're keeping Demar DeRozan but unloading any of Linas Kleiza, Gary Forbes or James Johnson + Ed Davis, Amir Johnson or Jerryd Bayless (rights or sign & trade) + #8 overall pick in 2012 and #37 overall pick in 2012(if necessary)
