Rudy on DeMar DeRozan: "He's by far the best two-guard I've ever played with"... Poor Tony Allen!
Can they coexist? Only 1 game but so far so good

Tonight:

Rudy- 20 pts, 3 reb, 1 assist

DD- 19 pts, 2 reb, 7 assists

I will gladly eat crow tonight. But then again you're not going to play like this for a whole season.

Look, it's not an ideal pair, but so far, demar was able to coexist just fine with fields, james johnson and other assortments of scrubs and near-scrubs.

To maximize their synergy, they have to improve in some areas, 3pt shooting in particular. But one is 23 and the other 26, I'd say there's still plenty of time.

I thought gay didn't play particularly well, but that was to be expected. On the other hand, you could see how much easier it was for demar to find driving lanes tonight, despite playing a pretty good defensive team with great interior defense.

I think demar will be by far the biggest beneficiary in terms of individual gains from this trade.

This is what happens when DeRozan actually plays with good players and isn't suffocated by defense, I hope he keeps it up.

DD has been distributing a lot more recently, so it's possible that the two can co-exist. For one night, they showed they could, but obviously we need more time to see if it can work. The shot distribution was pretty even tonight, so it could possibly work and I hope it does.

Now when Bargnani returns, can he co-exist with Gay and DD? I'm not so sure.

Who knows what would happen as well when Lowry gets his offensive flow going as well

So far so good in the 1st game. Well have to see a few more games to make a much better analysis

Actually I think Kyle made a concious effort to move the ball and not take his shots

I am a firm believer that demar can elevate his game to that other level with a legit first option beside him. Demars tools are best suited in a system like ours because, he doesn't demand possession to be effective, and his handles aren't great enough to be a iso player who can play 1 vs 2.like rudy can. Hell during tonight's game, the clippers at two occasions were scared to leave lowry gay amir or ross open and let demar handle turiaf

when was the last time we seen demar hit shots like that, something tells me he wanted to sho gay that he can play and to the coaches that he needs shots

so honestly i think this had more to do with the Raptors roster being more competitive and if your not playing well in the 2 or 3 position your going to get replaced on hte court with a terrrence ross or a anderson

this team is looking deep in those positions

that's all I understood from his comment
either he doesn't think Mayo is that good, or he forgot about Mayo, or he didn't get along with Mayo, either way its definitely a slap in Mayo's face about his skill or character

funny how both Mayo and DD are from USC, but we'll see after maybe a month if Gay feels the same way, i think DD just works better for Gay because of his willingness to defer while Mayo was way more of a ball hogger looking for his shots than for others, he still kind of is that type of player, but Mayo definitely has the better shooting touch while demar has a better driving game

Hopefully they cut Anderson's minutes. The guy's a big time chucker. He can hit the occasional big shot but he should only be used 5-10 minutes a game max.

It's hilarious how DD gets praise from players, opposing coaches, media sources, etc and many Raptor fans around the net think he's a complete scrub.

so true...he got snubbed from that top 25 under 25 list, especially having Bledsoe on there over him.

It's so true. This fan base, or at least a fair amount who post on forums are so damn fickle. They change their minds every time the team plays well or poorly, without waiting for a pattern to develop either way. DeRozan was never meant to be LeBron or Wade, so for where he was drafted, I think we're getting fair value. Sure he has some limitations, but he works hard, and shows progress. Look at his assist numbers in the last few games, he's rebounding more, and one of the best mid range shooters in the game. He needs to continue working on his ability to create, and his 3pt shot, and he'll be fine for us alongside Rudy. Most importantly, he knows when he needs to take a step back and let someone else take charge and when to try to take over himself.

Ross appears to be a bit away from any consistent production. So if he turns out to be the better fit for Rudy and our team, then we still need DeRozan to be playing at a high level to bring us back some value to build other areas of our club.

It's only been one game, but I like the chemistry that's already apparent.
