Default Rotation Rotation Rotation

Just thought I bring up a thread on Rotation. Even though we always talk rotation in any given thread I thought the Coaching Staff this year should get some credit where credit is due. Although I'm not happen with many things Triano does I'm willing to give the first year rookie coach some time and let him settle in a bit. Look at the numbers the proof is in the pudding

1. The Raptors have only ONE player that is averaging over 35 minutes per game. Yes big suprise its chris at 35.8mpg (323 total 33rd overall). Now in past year he was treated like a horse which resulted in his knees giving out and loss of games. Hopefully the Triano solution keeps Chris fresh at the back end of the season. Also, did I mention Chris is logging just about the same averages as last year with about 5 mpg less.

2. Only Jose, Turkey, and Bargs are getting anywhere near 35 minutes which is also workable time to stay fresh all season.

3. Jack and Wright are the last two rotational players averaging over 20mpg.

4. Belli, Dero and Amir bring out the rear at 15mpg with Rasho last at 7mpg.

Yeah I know you can bring this up at any stat sheet but I found it really promising that Bosh is getting that extra blow so he can stay fresh. Also, I notice that coach JT is using his bigs more for situation rather than just to bring them out to get minutes. This was evident during yesterday game when Amir really gave the Raps a big interior lift in the 4th quarter.

I'm not one liking the duo PG combo but we are problably going to see a ton of it even though Jack has been one of the more unproductive offensive Guards. Also, having Jack and Jose on the floor with Turk there with him really negates the value of Turk being a good facilitator.

I also think Wright has to be giving a stop on his shots. He shouldn't be an offensive weapon at all and really should tone down and realize he really isn't that good of an offensive player. Dero I have issues with but you have to give him more crumbs since the organization has already invested in him. Let him be a little free on offense and give him more PT.

Thats my take. Any world here on how Triano is managing his rotations?

I'd like to see Weems get more action. He's an athletic guy who can block shots and grab boards.

I'd like to make sure Weems knows that he has to earn his spot.
If he's hungrily grabbing boards and being energetic on the floor - he can keep his spot.

Jack's minutes need to be reduced at the SG spot. Belinelli/Derozan should be around 20MPG each. I think Derozan is around 18MPG actually, so give him an extra few minutes, same with Belinelli and reduce Jack time @ the 2.

Per 36min:

Derozan 10.3PPG- 7Reb- 2asts

Belinelli 17.1PPG- 2.4reb- 3.7asts

I 100% agree. Well its obvious JT really doesn't like playing with minutes too much and just will extend a tad during certain games. I really hope he extends Belli and Dero just a bit so they can get comfortable

I think Triano needs to start riding his hot hands.

He always takes a guy who's going good out and buries him on the bench (unless of course his name is Bosh) or if he is left out there, they go away from him.

Also, DD earned playing time in the fourth. He should've been out there.

I would say that Bosh has gotten the same treatment. He was a hot hand on both ends against Chicago, in the second half, and then sat for a pretty long time.

I agree about DD. He needs to be a much bigger weapon. I think Jose's minutes should drop before Jack's do. Especially if he can't keep from tweaking his groin.

I think LX is worried about Jose's "fragile" body. Personally I don't think you worry about injury. If you can't play the game night in and night out well you were fooling yourself signing that contract. What are you going to do wait until you think he is 100%.

A part of the being an NBA athlete is playing throught soreness. The old addage their is something different in being hurt rather than being injured. Deal with it and play.

Lastly, I agree Jose's minutes should not decrease just throw him to the wolves already. He unfortunately is our best PG option right now.

Jesus.

I'm no basketball genius (obviously), but Jose is better than Jack.

Whatever, why the worry?

He tweaked his groin, he still played, and WELL. He also didn't bitch about it, they just need to tell the media something. Obviously they are just resting thier guys before a tough trip. As well, there may be a little gamesmanship happening too.

Who knows, but I think too much is being read into this.

Well to switch things up. I really am in favour of having a oversized front court when Hedo is out. I'd love to see how a Bargs/Bosh/Amir frontcout would do in spurts. It has been done many times before in Bargs career and I think it should be revisited.

Just a thought

More than anything, I don't want to see Jack playing the two unless the situation is absolutely dire. DeMar's earned the minutes Jack is playing, and if this team's gonna run DeMar is the guy I want finishing on the break. He also rebounds better than any of the other guards we have so I don't see why you wouldn't find some more minutes for him. More Belli would be nice too, good stuff seems to happen when he touches the ball.

I've been pretty happy with the rotations in general.

In regards to Bosh I look at it like this....

Last season he HAD to play monster minutes for us to even have a chance to win.

THIS season we have a significant upgrade in talent so I'd be more than happy with him playing no more than 35 per. Keep him fresh for that playoff run.

In regards to DD yes, I agree that he SHOULD have played more in that CHI game. He deserved to.

At this point I think that Triano may be overplaying Jack a bit but it's natural for the coach to give him a break since he's one of our lead guards and has a number of years in the league.

As the season goes on I think that we may see Belli and DD more if they continue to play well and Jack doesn't.

All-in-all though, I don't have a lot of complaints about the rotation.

I like the rotation so far, not everything, but for the most part.
I do LOVE the fact that we keep our players under 35 mpg, to be honest I though Bosh is averaging close to 40 again, but at 35mpg, his statistical production is through the roof this season. No wonder he's #2 in the league in PER, at ~30, which is really Lebron/Wade/Dirk/Kobe teritorry in any given season.

I think Jay is doing a pretty good job with the rotations. I think we will see more of Demar as the season goes on. Why put the kid in a position to fail so early in his career. I think Jay understands this and early in the year will continue to ride the veteren, Jack. As the kid gains more confidence i think we will see more of him as we can use his hustle and work on the boards.
