Shit.

I was hoping he would just go out on top.

th3answ3r 01-17-2014 11:15 AM

He's not gonna repeat

creative1mm 01-17-2014 11:33 AM

he will probably be better this year.. allot of nerves last year
he is contributing much more this year and raps are winning, so it looks good

Raptorman 01-17-2014 11:54 AM

Good to see that he isn't afraid to try again and not sit on his victory.

My guess is he knows he has to really wow them to win but the champ should always be in to defend his crown.

lol, did you see how atrocious the other dunks were last year? Minus the rookie all star game nerves, Ross is gonna be able to lay down some serious dunks....hopefully he can come up with something mindblowing (after you know whos dunk from 13 years ago thats highly unlikely though)

just4_raps 01-17-2014 12:00 PM

good for him. at the end of the day who cares if he loses.

he has the playoffs to think about.

Totally agree. Who cares even if he loses in the first round. All just for fun. I love how focused he's been on the court since the trade.

ZanTheMan 01-17-2014 12:03 PM

He should take the weekend off imho.
What fame is the slamdunkcontest gonna bring you anyway? He won it last year and people still don't know him... Plus, did he even put up any noteworthy ingame dunks this year?? I must've missed them...

If I were Ross I'd pass...

moremilk 01-17-2014 12:57 PM

would be nicer if one of ross/jv makes it to the sophomore game tbh

LX 01-17-2014 01:06 PM

Just please do not lose focus on what matters.

fancylad 01-17-2014 01:12 PM

i think it's pretty cool. when was the last time a winner returned the next year?

Whats with you guys...I don't understand how some of you think (last year the same comments were made) or believe making the slam dunk contest/all star weekend will some how effect Ross/Players in a negative way. If anything it gives them the opportunity to go have a good time for a few days giving them a breather from the season. The guys doing the slam dunk contest, hes not running a 200k marathon....I dont see how going for 2-3 days of festivites will have him lose focus on the rest of the season. What do you guys think, hes gonna start skipping practices to go work on his Dunks? Or in game hes is going to take a pass on playing D because hes getting lost in trying to think of new dunks....ahahaha, if that were the case, then we should trade the guy now. He is a professional, if anything this will give the guy a little confidence boost in that he IS going to All-Star weekend. Let the guy have a little fun will you........:therock:

Last year with Evans who won it in 2012. Nate Robinson is the last one to win it in back-2-back years in 2009-2010.

He did lose his focus last year. There is way too much work and thought that goes into it beforehand, way too much attention before and after, the constant chatter, the social media and media distractions. Now he should be able to handle it ok having done it before, but the possibility of him not handling it well enough exists, and i hope that possibility does not materialize, that's all.

Or he could have been experiencing the ups and down all rookies experience :cookie:

Ross is indeed allowed to have fun and yes, he's wise enough to make the decision for himself.

The contest is not a marathon, but it is yet another day on the court, a day/weekend that could've been spent doing other things than playing ball. Could've been a nice break from everything.

We've been extremely lucky in the injury department thus far, and while Ross is not likely to get injured in the SDcontest, we're still the Raptors and bad shit tends to happen to us, so yeah, I'll pray nothing happens to him because that would truly suck. I also got the idea that several Raptors are a little fatigued at this point in the season (Amir?) but don't know if Ross is one of them, apparently not.

Most of all I hope Ross doesn't see repeating as an obligation because obviously it is not. I wouldn't have mind if he skipped this one.

Yeah, there was that, but how do you just discount all the distractions over weeks and weeks?

i agree x10000.

Great to here that he is going to defend the championship. I'm just wondering who else is going to be in the dunk contest.
