Default Rosen's Atlantic Division Preview

Charley's prediction for the Raps is pretty much exactly what 95% of the others from media world are guessing at this point. I just hope Andrea makes Rosen eat crow too after his comment regarding Bargnani below.

It put the offense exclusively in the capable hands of Jose Calderon, who tends to over-handle, but who's stronger, slightly better defensively, and less prone to force shots than Ford. The trade also brought Jermaine O'Neal, who can hopefully cure the power shortage that has hampered the Raptors for so many years.

Even so, the roster remains top-heavy with shooters: Marshmallow-soft Andreas Bargnani. High-flying Jamario Moon. And Jason Kapono, who has no other NBA qualifications. Only Anthony Parker has a complete game, and is in fact one of the league's most underrated players.

Chris Bosh remains the face of the franchise, a slasher and mid-range jump shooter, who should be the primary beneficiary of O'Neal's husky presence in the paint.

But O'Neal remains the key to the Raptors' fortunes. In the past, playing in the low post has either worn him down or resulted in crippling injuries. Also, O'Neal has never been accused of delivering in clutch situations. Still, if he's willing to battle and bang in the paint, the Raptors will finally have a big man who will demand double-teaming. The result should be even more unchallenged long-distance jumpers than ever.

Even if O'Neal supplies the requisite interior force, the Raptors overall defense and lack of quality backups would remain problematic.

The best that can be hoped for: Advancing into the second round of the playoffs.

You know - I prefer his totally negative diatribes. Those usually contain at least a hint of knowledgeable commentary. This one just looks like a bunch of pieced-together stabs in the dark. You can kinda tell that he wants to go negative indepth, but probably realised that he just doesn't know enough, and he's probably been called out for some of that in the past.

Thanks anyways Doc! You're bringing it again this morning. It's going to be sweet when there's actually something for these guys to base things on.

Charlie Rosen should be picking up garbage on the interstate, not putting it on paper.

First he claims Calderon is an over-dribbler, and then he goes on to spell Andrea's name wrong. Andreas? He's not from Croatia...

Why would JO need to be clutch when we have Kapono, Bosh, Parker, and JOse. I don't get that at all

Because Kapono, Bosh, Parker and Jose have never been accused of delivering in clutch situations either.

At least from the standpoint that when most writers talk about clutch they mean the consistent ability to hit shots in key situations. I don't mean to imply that any of our guys disappear in crunch time, but they aren't what most would define as "clutch players"

I actually consider AP and Jose to be very clutch performers, but I will say that Bosh has had a tendency to muck up in the clutch - granted, it is more difficult for a power forward to create his own shot. As for Kapono, I don't think you can win the three point-shootout two years in a row without being at least kind of clutch.

There's about 20 million reasons per year. This what the media will touch on if he doesn't bring it and the fans will eat that up and turn on him. Raptors fans have never been known to have patients for high profile underachieving players.

By the way, I think Jermaine will bring it because he's healthy and he's out of a frustrating, tiring situation. Everything is there for a bounce back season.

One more thing, I think Charley Rosen is the biggest douche bag in basketball. The guy is a notorious Raptors hater.
