Rosen Rips Bosh a New One

:( Charley really doesn't like Bosh does he?

Bizzy, Ottawa, Canada

Rosen: First off, there's no power in Bosh's game. He's really an outsized small forward with excellent rebounding skills.

Second, Bosh had his best games in Beijing against the worst teams. In the medal round his defense was porous.

Fourth, instead of ranking the NBA's power forwards, here are the guys who I believe are now, or soon will be, better than Bosh.

Tim Duncan is still the gold standard at this position.

Kevin Garnett is unreliable in the clutch (as demonstrated by his game-by-game play in last season's championship series), but still does much more with and without the ball than Bosh.

Elton Brand might even be a better post-up scorer than TD.

With all of his flaws, Dirk Nowitzki is much more explosive with the ball than Bosh.

Ditto for Amare Stoudemire.

David West is all about power.

At the power-forward slot, Pau Gasol's shortcomings will be minimized and his strengths accentuated.

It's not inconceivable that Josh Smith is well on his way to leaving Bosh in the dust.

Rosen is a Raptors hater plain and simple. He absolutely never has anything positive to say about the team. What he says shouldn't be taken seriously...

Gurk 09-18-2008 09:09 PM

I got mad when I read this so I posted a comment on MSN about his article. LOL

Every basketball msg board should just tune out Rosen. Hes worse than Hollinger was when he first started.

FarSight 09-19-2008 03:15 AM

Rosen is just trying to get more plublicity and that fact is... the only reason people would want to read his article or blog is because he makes outrageous stuff like this to piss us off... also saying "Dirk Nowitzki is much more explosive with the ball than Bosh.", is a slap in the face... Rosen probably believes in manifest destiny and is pissed off Canada is not apart of the states

Rosen is bang on fellas, and outside of David West, I would take all those guys over CB4, untill he shows me he can defend consistantly, and take the ball at defenders.

Bosh plays like a fancy boy out there sometimes, when we need him to be the man, and play like one. 6 3pt attempts against Orlando is inexcusable. Stop making videos, and hit the weightroom young man.

Yikes.

If by hating, you mean, telling the truth, you are right.

While I don't disagree with what you say Bosh should do Benzo, Rosen is a classic anti-Raptor media type, always has been. His assesments are NOT bang on. His criticisms sound a bit more like insults, and I think as great as he makes the others sound, and as bad as he makes Bosh sound, he could be laying it on a bit thick.

I think perhaps we should wait and see what the guy can do playing his own position with a legit center beside him, he ain't a center.

He isn't the best, but he sure a s shit aint as bad as Rosen has him painted.

so when Bosh gets ripped apart, its all truth...
yet when Bargs gets critisized its complete BS...
sigh.:frustrated:

For shits and Giggles, here's Mr. Rosen during the Olympiad!

The sheer speed of Chris Bosh and Howard can beat most opponents' bigs down the court for easy buckets on the run (something that Tim Duncan and Carlos Boozer could never do).

Except for Paul and Tayshaun Prince, all of the guys are strong enough to take a big hit and not get derailed.

He says a lot of bad stuff too, but I just wanted to show how a guy can say two things.

ps, he got his email.

:)

Funny that he finds it necessary to point out all of the flaws in everyone else too.

Superjudge 09-19-2008 11:09 AM

meh

let um play 25 games then lets re-visit.

MikeToronto 09-19-2008 12:29 PM

I'd probably agree that Bosh is not a power player per se - he is not strong enough to really bang in the low post at either end of the floor. His game is more about finesse, agility and speed.

[seinfeld] not that there's anything wrong with that. [/seinfeld]

exactly.
everyone expects Fower Forwards to be just that; powerful.
but Bosh isnt your typical PF.
he's lean, lanky, and relies on a finesse game above all.
sure, a few pounds of muscle would do wonders, but thats not what his game is about. he's graceful and can run the floor better than about all the PF's in the league... no one ever brings that up. all they ever do is critique his lack of muscle or toughness.

Claudius 09-19-2008 01:03 PM

If he added a few pounds of muscle he would likely have to change his game more than alot of people believe. Adding let's say 4-5 pounds of muscle would force him to re-learn his shot (simply due to him being stronger) and a few other things. Tone up? Sure. But Bosh is who he physically is.

I'd more have him work on conditioning (something I think he lacks as he struggles or seems to struggle by April-May) than adding simple bulk to his frame. Also, he should work on defensive positioning more than anything else. He does those few things and he'll be fine and better next season.

fancylad 09-19-2008 01:25 PM

the thing i find about Bosh is that he DOES play with toughness. Sure he's not as physically strong as most of the bigs in the league, but CB still bangs with them, he still fights and brings down boards. Does he take a lot of jump shots? yes. but he has a good jump shot. On the flipside, he takes it inside probably more than any other raptor too. How many times does he get to the charity line? a lot.

Again, he may get overpowered on numerous occasions, but the man still continues to fight down low and is pretty succesful doing it.

He may lack bulk - but i say this: He doesn't lack toughness.

Acie 09-19-2008 01:37 PM

I always think of Bosh running into a Jahidi White screen in his rookie season, getting crushed, getting right back up and continuing to play, getting pulled and bandaged up with a shoulder strain and coming right back on the floor.

It's not news to anyone that he's got the determination and will, but he needs to get a little tougher mentally, show up and play bigger when the game, the season or whatever is on the line.

He did it more last year - whether it was a key score, block, rebound, getting to the line, but not often enough and I think he's capable of more.
