Rondo in Toronto?

The Rondo trade rumors are out there.

I think he'd be a good fit here, and I think BC would be wise to see what it would take to get him.

I'd offer something like Calderon + Ed Davis and see if I could get a counter offer, though I'm thinking that Boston would want our first round pick in 2012 thrown in.

If the pick is in the 5-10 range, as projected, it could be worth it. It might even be a good idea to trade the pick before the lottery (before it likely gets devalued...) That's just playing the odds, though - that strategy could backfire.

Rondo competes every game. Its too bad, BC has never traded for individuals with attitude problems (only choir boys). Rondo & Jeff Green for Bargnani & James Johnson. I would like to see Rondo & Jonas play the pick and roll for many years.

Chiggmo 03-01-2012 03:32 PM

I'd give our pick for him, we need a PG for the future, and chances are were not getting one out of this draft.

MikeToronto 03-01-2012 03:34 PM

No to trading the pick. And if we are not doing that, there is nothing we have that Boston would want in return, unless BC is ready to trade Bargnani.

I've been discussing for a while now in other threads.

I'd happily give them Jose, Ed and our pick if that's what it took to get it done.

Our PG situation would be set... which is something we haven't been able to say since Damon left.

He is good, off-court issues or not, but Jose + Ed + likely top-5 pick? That's a lot...

The only way it makes seance to let go Bargnani is if draft Davis, and neither us or BC know if this will happen (it probably won't). Would they take Barbosa+Calderon for Rondo?

Not likely lol, maybe throw ed in with it? Dunno.

We can only go by the rumoured Rondo for Curry trade proposal. If that's the only kind of return they are looking for - a young PG to build around - then the answer is no.

I will be very pissed if we will trade away our pick!

Let's put it this way - I'd love to make such a trade less of a gamble. As in - if we want to trade a pick, do it after the list of available draftees is more or less firm and the lottery is over. This way, both you and the receiving team know what is really being traded.

If the pick stays within the "possible franchise guy" range (I have no idea who, other then Davis, could qualify as such this year) - I'd rather not trade it. However, if such player is out of reach and a great building block like Rondo is available - why not?

Chiggmo 03-01-2012 03:54 PM

The only thing I'd rather was Jose and Barbosa get traded away for picks instead, get a bunch of rooks and let em play lol.

That is what i was saying all this time, it's not like we need to win this year so why not trade them for picks? :confused2:

Yeah.... it IS a lot... but I think it'd be worth it.

I'm just not convinced that our pick is going to turn out to be anything special TBH.

I guess we'll see.

jeffb 03-01-2012 04:22 PM

It would take Derozan + Davis at least

Neither am I. :(

When is our luck going to change? I know it's pointless, but how come other teams draft Shaqs, Howards, Kobes, LeBrons, Durants, Roses, Wades, Pauls, Duncans and such, while the best Raps have managed in 16 seasons are Carter and Bosh? :(
