we're not sitting at the sixth worst record right now. It's fifth, and one loss away from fourth, with NO and Washington both heating up recently. The tank hasn't gone off it's tracks yet.

I guess it depends on what you're looking for out of your PG, but if you want a floor general and a defensive leader you can't do much better than Rajon Rondo.

I think a good comparison can be made between Rondo and Jason Kidd.

They're both excellent at defense, rebounding, and as playmakers. Kidd has had a long and successful career doing those things well.
two problems: rondo is such a bad shooter that his career will nosedive unless he learns how to do it in the next 2 seasons. Second is his character, if there were so many problems in Boston, where he's surrounded by a bunch of hall of famers (both on the court and the front office), how much of a headache will he be in Toronto?

yes, and let's not forget that once gordon and okafor return, NO has a good chance of overtaking us. If we can keep Bargnani on the sidelines a few more weeks and/or trade Jose, we could easily get a #2 pick, which means 20% chance at getting a superstar.

How on earth do you know who will end up being superstar?

Just not worth it, and that's not even considering the character issues.

that being said, I would definitely trade jose + davis + gray + our 2013 pick for rondo and their 2013 pick.
Whaaaaaat?

You do know that Rondo's an all-star and one of the league's top PGs right?

I like your optimism... but I think you're reaching just a bit.

Nothing less then the constant failure driving constant cynicism, until one of these franchises show otherwise. Of Course I would love Rondo but this is beyond pipe dream. This guy would never come to a shitty franchise like ours he's way to much of a competitor.

5th by win % 6th by games behind.

Phoenix, GSW have only 3 more wins than us and they're 10th and 11th.

There are some really bad teams out there, and the Raptors with a healthy Bargnani (and, even better, a motivated Rondo) could make a run up the standings in a hurry.

it must be said that this year most of the games we lose, we lose the little, now with the return of Bargnani, you could really win some and the chances of a good pick decrease

That's what I'm saying.

Trade the pick.

Fuck the tank.

or we trade the pick+DD/ed/amir+calderon for abig player
or we have to trade Bargs to safe a good pick (we can also brake his leg)

You guys talking about getting Rondo, did you check Kendall Marshall? I think he can be just as good as Rondo if not better.. We need to get more picks!!!!

I agree for the most part with what you're saying in terms of his jumper. I think he won't lose his quickness in 2 years, maybe 4/5; and 'nosedive' is too strong of a word, though he definitely won't be as effective without being able to get to the basket at will. And the arrogance is a problem. But perhaps it's the sort of confidence we've been missing here since the VC/AD/Oak days?

I'm a huge fan of Rondo's, but I do think he'd have a hard time fitting in here unless we were able to get two or three shooters (assuming Jose is gone) to spread the floor and open up the driving lanes for him. Still, I think he's a big enough upgrade over Jose to seriously consider pursuing him.

Either trade Jose and Barbosa for some picks (hell if you can get something out of Ed give it a shot maybe) or try to go this route for Rondo or something of the sort.

Just curious, what would the cap situation look like if we made a move for Rondo? Assuming Jose was involved in the deal and Barbosa wasn't.

It wouldn't make much difference.

2012-13

Jose- 10.5Mil

Rondo- 11Mil

Our cap still would remain around 11Mil

Rondo makes about the same as Jose (about $250K more), so it wouldn't make much of a difference with regards to the cap situation.

We could still sign a shooter in the offseason for good money.

I'm thinking WC might still be an option.

This would be a draft night possibility if we land out of the top 3-4 maybe. Doing it now would be fucking nuts.

Boston wouldn't make the trade if we were out of the top 3-4.

And BC wouldn't make the trade if Harrison Barnes was available where he's picking.

So, if you want to trade the pick, now's the time to get good value in return.

If we traded for Rondo and ended up with the number 1 pick, I think we'd all jump off cliffs.

Rondos a very good PG, but like others have said, his game will go way downhill once he loses some of his quickness, and who knows how he plays without big stars around him?

We cant trade our pick right now. Its suicide.
