Rondo, Garnett and Pierce to all miss Saturday's game

Doc Rivers told reporters during Wednesday's morning shootaround that Kevin Garnett's availability for the Celtics' game against the Suns that evening would be a game-time decision. It wasn't quite game time when Rivers met with the media again a little less than an hour before tip-off, but he had made up his mind: Garnett was sitting due to soreness in his right knee -- and in all likelihood, was going to miss more than one game.

"I just decided that if I was debating it, the basketball gods were probably telling me to go with [my initial thought]," Rivers said. "So, we sat him down. We've got to wait for it to heal, and we'll see how long that takes."

Rivers said that he also expects Garnett to miss Boston's home game against the Raptors Saturday, but he hopes to have his player back for next Wednesday's contest in Miami.

The schedule definitely played a role in Rivers' choice to give Garnett some time to heal.

"I looked at the schedule, and obviously this is a tough game, but when you look at the schedule and then you see the two days, then a game, then three more days -- if you're going to rest someone to get 'em right, there's no better time than right now," Rivers said.

Could Toronto make it 6 in a row?

Bad news. Whenever this happens we seem to fuck it up. But hopefully we can take advantage. At the same time, we may not have Turkoglu either.

They need to take full advantage of Boston's misfortune and put the boots to the Celtics on Saturday. That is what good teams do.

We won't need Hedo to beat Boston. No Garnett, No Pierce and maybe No Rondo. We will be 6-0 after Boston. Just got to like our timing !

No Rondo? I'm watching the Celtics play right now and he's doing just fine. Even without those two the Celtics won't just roll over, it'll be a tough matchup regardless.

With no KG or Pierce, we really should win. I hope we can steal one from them in the Garden before we go home to face the Spurs... We've always done relatively well against them, and if we can get both the Boston and the SA games, I will have wet dreams for the next two weeks.

Without KG, Bosh should dominate. I think the killer B's will have a solid game and our bench will outscore their bench. But then again..

Gawd this is bad news for us. Whenever a two or more good players are out of the other team we tend to lose. I am expceting the same thing with this game

Ummmm...c'mon guys. Did everyone miss the game against Detroit? That was a couple games ago.

None of the same old expectations should be there. I'm thinking of the rest of the way as if the season just started. There is a team where a bunch of guys trying to figure out their roles and each other once stood in its place.

Pierce Garnett and Baby Davis are out for them. Two starters and a 7th man.

Calderon Evans and Turk are prob out for us. Two starters and a 7th man.

If we win, it's because we deserve it. We played CHA today without 2 of our starters. When we beat DET by 30 without 2 starters everyone on this forum says it's an easy win. Thank you Bryan Colangelo for putting together a deep team. But we're not playing with our full roster either, so if we win, it's because we deserve it.

Raps have been 0-7 against Boston since this game: NBA - Toronto Raptors/Boston Celtics Box Score Wednesday January 23, 2008 - Yahoo! Sports observe.

40-69, 0.580 from the field
15-21, 0.710 from the arc
19-19, 1.000 from the line

We still only won by 2 points.
