Default Roko vs. Poland

Encouraging news but sad at the same time now that Roko doesn't really have a role with this team anymore.

Both games were really interesting as both sides put up a fight and both games were very close till the very end. In the first game Croatia beat Poland 82:78 and Roko Ukic was outsdanding.. To be honest, he was the only player Poland couldn't find an answer two. He was shooting on outsdaning FG% as he hit 4/4 shots from the 3 point line. His dribbling and ballhandling was amaizing, also he drove to the lane without problems. Both games were really tight and it was basket after basket and great D on both sides. On the Polish side, Gortat owned the whole paint and nobody even tried to play 1 on 1 against him. This guy is an animal. In the second game he scored 22 points, 13 rebounds and 2 outsdanding blocks. Poland won the second game 71:67.

These 2 days was a great experience for me as i'm a Raptor fan since a kid and i got a chance to see Roko Ukic from very close distance. Gortat is my favorite player so i had great fun. And all i want to say is that... I'm really worried Colangelo gave up to quick on Roko. He's got sick skills for a PG with his height. I think this guy is definitly an NBA calibre player. With Jarret Jack coming, Roko won't get any minutes... Sad.

Now I think Douby is pretty much done.

I think its great that the Raptors are good enough not to have a role for Roko. It means they're relevant again! Colangelo treats his players very well, including those who don't fit his plan anymore. If there is no place for Roko then I trust that Colangelo will find a solution that places him in a good situation.

I wouldn't get to excited about this, For one it's Poland. For 2 he was the go to guy on the Croatian team, and when you are the go to guy you are bound to score. Lets not get to emotionally attached, unless you already are.

Cheers

people spend weeks and months talking about which 3rd string pf we are gonna bring in. however when we have a young, athletic, developing pg, who is a gym rat and wants to be here....people say trade him

I find it awesome that Poland played two really competative games against Croatia and actually won one of the games.

Go Go Gortat!

I think the Jack signing was a clear indication Roko isn't in the plans...we need to find a way to up his value so we can get something for him. I dont' think he'll stay long in the NBA as a 3rd stringer when he can start in Europe.

Roko is only 1 year younger than Jarret Jack. I undertstand he is young with potential, but so is Jack. With Jose being our starter we need someone to come off the bench to play lock down D, with decent ability to score and distribute. Jack fits that bill perfectly. I like Roko, but there's just not enough minutes to go around.

I think Roko can fight his way to a spot on the team and I always said he had potential. He could possibly replace Douby or Banks on the 12 man active list. At least if we trade him, some teams might want him.

Still to early to know about minutes. Last we heard a few weeks ago was that Jose's injury wasn't healed. If Jose isn't ready to go Roko may get some minutes.

Roko had some sick games in Europe before he came to Toronto. It's not really indicative of anything.

I agree. If he has a great camp and plays well with the minutes he gets, they will have to find something for him. I know they probably can't be compared but I also remember Jose's first season and the concerns if he could be a player in the NBA, and I also remember the differences and improvements in his second season.
