This is what Doug Smith had to say about Roko so far.

He made a couple of great drives on isos where he got easily to the rim and his decision making seemed very good. Trouble was, every time he decided to pass the ball to ex-Net Zoran Planinic, it was like passing it into a black hole. I donít think the guy gave the ball up once in the entire game.

Like many of us here said - all he needs to do in his first season is outplay Solomon for 12-15 minutes of backup time behind Ocho. If he could also spend about 5 minutes per game playing solid 2, it'd be a bonus.

Yea Mike you are right if Roko can outplay Solomon then he gets to be the second PG but if he can't then he will be the third. If this happens IMO then Roko will go back to Europe to play there

Roko hasn't played all that well actually. He had a terrible, terrible game against Argentina and he hasn't done anything to make me scream, wow, what a player. I still think he's learning the limits of his game and what he can and can't do.

It could just be, that he has brutal coach on the Croatian side (a coach I dislike) and isn't using him properly. Maybe Smitch will know how to use him? Or being beside a guy like Jose will help develop his game even further.

Why would anyone be expecting him to do anything like that?

We just need this guy to play solid in the backup pg role. Isn't being a steady, intelligent player good enough?

And I'll give you Jose regarding Sam developing players, but Bosh? Everyone and their grandma knew Chris Bosh would be a star. The level to which Smitch has helped him is unknown, but I would argue that Bosh would be just as good a player with any coach in the league.

How about Charlie V?

Hoffa and Joey = Sawdust for brains.

You can't make shit shine.

Bargs besieged by injuries and other ailments. I suppose when he returns to form it will be despite Mitchell. *sigh*

Guys, the Smitch simply is a bad coach, wether you wish to believe it or not.

riiight.. He's a bad coach because he can't develop shitty players. The same shitty players that can't develop under other coaches too.

Also, he's a bad coach just becuase some of you say so.

Jesus.

Sam has his weaknesses and he has his strengths. IMO, his strengths out-weigh his weaknesses - and - I actually think developing young players to be one of his strong points. but hey, who am i to judge? No wait... becuase I say it, it's true.

Sam Mitchell is a bad coach because he can't organize the team on offence OR defence, he can't call a decent play out of the timeout, he mismanages rotations/subs and has been outcoached in both series he's been in.

He is a decent motivator and his tough love seems to work well with youngsters, I will give him that.

He's still a young coach who is improving. He's had his faults with "strategies", but he's also showing signs of improvement.

He's far from perfect... but IMO, he's good for this team - and to keep this relevant to the thread - he'll be good for Roko.

COTY is voted for by the media members. Basketball experts? I don't think so. And players voted him the worst coach in the NBA just a year before that.

A guy who has covered the game for at least 10 years as a dept. head is an expert.

18 year old X-Box professional are not.

The Players poll was BS, i'll find the article.
