Rodman: Bargnani's rebounding is sad

Quote:

Informed there was a certain 7-footer who plays in Toronto who is averaging just 4.9 rebounds per game, Rodman initially responded with a ďthatís sadĒ comment.

But as far as heís concerned there is nothing Andrea Bargnani has to learn, no technique he has to master to get those numbers up so they arenít so ďsadĒ looking.

As far as Rodman is concerned all he has to do is make the effort to rebound.

ďItís a mindset,Ē Rodman said of rebounding. ďIf you want to do it, you can do it. I mean I was only 6-foot-6 and 220 and playing against guys 7-foot, 280 or 290 pounds. Itís up to you if you want to go do it. If you want the money, thatís cool but itís all about the love of the game. Itís more effort to go get the ball.Ē

Again Rodman does not speak this way to be critical of Bargnani or any other 7-footer who chooses not to rebound. Itís merely his opinion and if it upsets others then it does. Rodman has never worried about what others think of him and that hasnít changed in retirement.

exposure!!!! and here comes the free agents!

powerfulpanda 10-14-2011 04:31 PM

there bargnani lovers....you've heard it from the king of boards himself. its all effort.
so you can stop making excuses for him now....

It's interesting that they refer to a career average..... it's almost like a leading question, that is what's really sad. Yes, he can rebound more but so can Brooke Lopez. Who gives a shit, but at least be impartial and not lead an interviewee.

Brook Lopez scores, rebounds and blocks shots. Bargnani is a better shooter but 20ppg is 20ppg.

that's not true, generally Brook used to kill Andrea.
Bargs was better during the 1st Nets-Raps game of last season. That's all.

Consider this - 09-10, 4 Nets- Raps games:
Brook -- 35 min per game, 16.5 points, 8 reb, .568 FG%
Andrea -- 31 min, 13.5 points, 3.8 reb (!!!), .432 FG%

Even Brook's rookie season, he was arguably better face to face.

Either way - it's not just about who beats who in direct matchups. Yao used to murder Dwight back in 2008.
But when you account for everything else - performance against other teams, reliability etc, noone in his right mind would've taken Yao over Dwight.
Brook is a younger guy who had an off year but he hasn't missed a single NBA game (!) and he has much better career stats. He also generally outplays Bargs face to face.
How would someone consider Bargs better?

Yeah, take the 3pt shot from Bargnani and is it even a debate.
