Rockets Attempted To Trade For Kyle Lowry At Deadline - RealGM Wiretap

Quote:
The Houston Rockets attempted to trade for Kyle Lowry ahead of the deadline, according to sources.

Lowry was traded to the Toronto Raptors by the Rockets in the 2012 offseason.

Lowry has been one of the NBA's best point guards this season and will be a coveted free agent.

"I would have done things differently in Houston," Lowry said. "I really respected Kevin McHale. I wish I would have had an opportunity to play for him longer. The things he was teaching me, well, I didn't understand right away. When you get away from someone, though, see it from the outside looking in, you go back and think, 'Damn, I could've learned some more things from the guy.'

"I wanted to stay with Coach Adelman and needed to get over that. [McHale] came in with a different philosophy, and I wish I could've adapted to it quicker."

With all the talk about them going after Melo we should've demanded Parsons for Lowry.

This was in the woj Lowry article posted yesterday. The source for WT is that article

Anyway, I'll post this here rather then start another Lowry thread. ..

Quote:
The Raptors will certainly have competition to ink Lowry. As Woj mentions, the Lakers and Rockets are two teams that could express interest in the stat-stuffing floor general. Houston apparently tried to trade for Lowry prior to the deadline, and L.A. could see Lowry as a piece that helps them return to the playoffs after this dreadful lottery-bound season.

League sources have also speculated that the HEAT could emerge as a potential suitor for Lowry, depending on what happens with LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh this summer.*If they decide to opt out and ink new long-term deals, it would create some cap space for Miami and the HEAT could make a notable free agent like Lowry an attractive offer. It might not be as much as he could get from other teams, but he may be tempted to play alongside the Big Three and have a chance to contend for a championship. Lowry would make Miami a much scarier team, giving them a significant upgrade over Mario Chalmers at point guard.

andddddddddd that's why Lowery had the reputation that he did. Just reading his quotes its obvious when McHale came in Lowery was not the happiest of campers and there was most likely some heated conflicts in the dressing room....

Wasn't that already known? Sometimes happens when a new coach comes in and changes things. I'm glad Lowry owns up to this and has learned from it.

I am suspicious of everything Lowry is saying and doing in this contract year.

I'm not sold that he wont revert back to his "pain in the a$$" ways if he gets a long term deal.

He's not just securing his next pay check.
He's doing all the little things too like being a leader on/off the court, mentoring Val, really taking risks healthwise etc. Not really things a selfish moneygrabber would take the time for.

I think/want to believe he genuinely wants to be here...

We won't have to wait too long to find that out.

I just hope MU has a decent back up plan if he does bolt. Maybe expecting the worst is just me being a Raptors fan, but I'm not confident he'll stay here if he gets comparable offers elsewhere.

I'm sure already has 6 backup plans lined up

I have a feeling the backup plan is overpaying for Rondo

Not comparable. The Raptors can offer a 1 year longer deal than other teams, and if they choose, match dollars.

Not enough. Add in Beverley and we're talking.

The only way I envision Rondo here, while DD, TR and Amir remain our options 2 through 4, is if DD suddenly becomes a 36-40% shooter from beyond the arc.

Houston wouldn't deal a starting SF for Lowry cuz then they'd be forced to play a lot of small ball. Parsons' contract is probably/arguably the best in the league and they would need a guarantee that KL would be staying.

I think PHX will offer Bledsoe a lot of $$$ to keep him.

While that'd be a strong squad with D overall and consistent shooting from the 3 at the wings, you have to get Rondo to stay here.
