Default Ric Bucher: 2012 Draft order if there is no season

Likeliest NBA draft order formula if no season: 3 seasons aggregated for order, then lottery for worst 14. Slightly weighted in other ways.

If so, we have the 7th worst overall winning percentage if you combine the last three season @ .386

I'm not liking our chances of getting a top 5 pick if that's the case.

The worst 5 teams the last three seasons
1. Minnesota
2. Sacremento
3. Washington
4. New Jersey
5. LAC

imagine the Wiz getting 2 top picks in 3 years. exactly how the Pens benefited from the NHL lockout

They may yet eliminate the recent top pick getters from winning the lottery, so we don't know exactly how that would work out, but that scenario would eliminate the Clips and Wiz from contention.

It's unlikely they use this method as it would really hurt Cleveland. They've been one of the top teams in the league the past 2 out of 3 years.

they should average the rankings, not the winning percentage. If a team finished 30th, 27th and 21st, their final ranking is 26th. This way you don't reward those teams who shamelessly tanked and won 10-15 games skewing the average record, nor do you punish teams like the cavs who jumped from a .700 record to a .250 after lebron left.

would be much fairer imo

The NHL gave each team 3 ping pong balls, then removed one for each playoff appearance in the last 3 years or 1st overall pick in the last 4 years, to a maximum of two removed balls.

Each team therefore had between 1 and 3 ping pong balls, then they did a straight lottery of all 30 picks, and reversed the order for the 2nd round.

In the Raps' case, the NHL system would give them a 6% chance at the top pick, and would be one of only 5 teams to have 3 ping pong balls.

Is that sarcasm? They do need another high pick. Their roster sucks both short term and long term. Even more than Raptors. Unless you are a huge believer in Kyrie/Thompson.
