Retiring Jersey Numbers Is Lame

I hate how certain teams have retired numbers.

For example: Boston Celtics

00, 1, 2, 3, 6, 10, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18,19, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 31, 32, 33, 35

I mean that pretty much limits to what numbers you can pick when playing for the celtics,

I mean what is the point of retiring numbers, unless they have done something out of the extrodinary, I see it being pointless and a waste of a good number.

The Miami Heat Have 13 retired for Dan Marino, I mean what has Dan Marino done for the Miami Heat? I know he was Succsessfull For the Dolphins, but to have his 13 jersey retired by an NBA Team to me just wastes a good number for fellow Heat players to wear in the future

23* should be retired throughout the NBA, Because MJ was a God, and he deserves his number to be Perminatley Retired No one else should have that privelege in my opinion.

Im glad the Raptors have not retired any jersey Numbers... yet anyway

What are your thoughts on Retiring jersey Numbers, Does it annoy you that you wouldnt be able to pick your own number? or do you think its a good thing

Comments below are welcome

NHL retired 99 for Gretzky. Retiring 23 would make sense. It would upset alot of MJ wannabees (LBJ) that thought they should wear 23 since they were the best player.

Thats crazy that the Heat retired 13 for Marino.

Agreed that teams show be more scrupulous.

Actually LeBron's one of the strongest supporters of retiring number 23 league-wide, and has already said he'll switch to #6 next season.

Wow you guys really think they should retire MJ's number? I mean he was good but there were players that were just as good. If your gonna retire his number you better retire Chamberlains, Magic's, Kareem's and many more others

yeah but Michael was known as the best player ever to play basketball, so in my opinion 23 should be retired for him

No one in the league should be allowed to wear #23, period.

James actually said in an interview a couple months back he would be for the league retiring #23.. doubt it'll happen tho

Well said my man. I mean if the NHL retired 99 for Wayne Gretzkey im sure then NBA should retire 23 In respect for Jordan, I mean he was the best, and will always be the best in My opinion.

Only Kobe has come close given the fact he has 4 rings, To me Kobe is better than Lebron, Kobe has more game than Bron and more rings, The cavs are trying to buy a Title this year, I mean they are well over the salary cap, and I think the Lakers will repeat with the Cavs coming close
