I concur, Joey must be resigned. We need a guy that can play physical and is tough. Joey can come off the bench and bang, something this team lacks big time.

well there is no buzz about him right now because you can't sign free agents or "talk" to them until July 1st if they're from another team, so really the free agent off-season hasn't started
there's only talk about the big name guys right now
but still, the fact that BC hasn't made any re-signing efforts in joey graham kind of tells you that he cares more about signing our other players first and that he might not even care about joey anymore, which he really shouldn't

don't really have that much to add to the discussion, but let's just remember that for a while Joey was the ONLY guy taking it strong to the hoop.

Really not sure how much money he's looking for and how much Colangelo wants to give him, but when you look at some of the complete uselessness we are going to have on the roster: Douby, Banks, O'Bryant.... I would welcome Joey for sure.
I agree 100%.

If Reggie Evans isn't going to make this team tougher by himself. Keeping a guy like Joey would help. Obviously I'd be less than enthused if we had to pay him $4-5M/yr but at $2-3? Why not?

He certainly wouldn't be the first guy to take a few years to find his game.

joey graham brings zero toughness, we kind he does because of his body shape, but seriously in the last 4 years he's been here he's basically shown he is the same as the rest of the team, SOFT!

I agree. And it always kills me that poeple want to keep a player like Joey yet they cry for change?

If this iteam is ever going to change, there are only a few guys we can replace at this point and Joey needs to be one of them. Realistically, the players we need to get rid of....Joey/Banks/Hump/Douby and maybe AP. Now out of that group who's the easiest to get rid of-----> Joey and AP (FA). Change will never occur if you keep holding on to the bench players that are inconsistent and that have been partly why the team is where it is. The team is soft and has been for years and Joey's been here for what...5yrs? He's another one of those "nice guys" that is soft.Time to go Joey.

i haven't really been digging doug smith's opinions and thoughts recently. but, the man does make a valid point here.

Q: Thanks for the online chat and live coverage of the draft. Wasn't on for the chat, but enjoyed reading it after the fact. My question is regarding Joey G. Was he not one of the few Raptors who played beyond expectations last year? With a bit more consistency he would be a solid rotation guy, why does there seem to be no interest in bringing him back? What do you think he might get as a FA?

P K, Guelph

A: I have no idea what he’d get on the market and I think the relative disinterest here comes from the fact he had four seasons and ample opportunity to really seize a spot and didn’t. Time to move on.

ya, doug smith has been a really cranky old man lately (needs to change his depends) but, this pretty much hits it right on the money.

Teams aren't going to be look to add the final one or two pieces on their bench until a bit closer to training camp anyway, so I don't get why you're acting like we're lauding Joey Graham as an up and coming superstar.
you realize that if we want him back, we can only pay him close to 4 million. Anybody that says they want him back, automatically agree that he's worth that much. And those that are consider it good value, automatically imply that his true value is closer to 5+, which is almost MLE territory.

Therefore my point that we rather than to spend 3.7 million on Joey, we should use those money to fill the bench with 3-4 POBs at 1 million each, player that are young and at least have a chance to improve. Joey is old, and is a known quantity. He would be ok as a 8th player off the bench, but you can't pay him 3.7/yr to do that.

Joey is 27 years old... Granted that should technically be his "prime" and he should be peaking, that isn't to say that he's completely incapable of improving. Good luck trying to find non-NBDL calibre players at 1 million per year, because most players that are available for that amount of money usually amount to nothing.

if he's open to less money sign him.

if he wants more, it's time to leave.
