The firesale continues for the Toronto Raptors, as ESPN reports that GM Masai Ujiri, fresh off of moving Rudy Gay Sunday night in a deal with Sacramento is prepared to move Kyle Lowry to the next good offer he can garner.

New Raptors front-office boss Masai Ujiri has managed to trade away Andrea Bargnani and now Gay over the past six months to create financial flexibility going forward and -- with Toronto apparently determined to avoid any accidental success in the Atlanta Division -- is said to be happy to surrender veteran point guard Kyle Lowry next.

via Raps, Kings likely not done dealing - Marc Stein Blog - ESPN.

Combine Gay and Lowry and you have over 24 points, 10 rebounds, and nearly nine assists per game that Ujiri is trying to move inside of a week. That, my friends, is how you tank.

Lowry is talented, but he also has a reputation as being mercurial with coaches and teammates. He stuggles finding the line between being too aggressive and not enough. But he's also a great value at his contract, a $6.2 million expiring. The question will be whether he waits till after the December 15th deadline for new contracts or gets the deal done now, and whether Ujiri is able to offload Landry Fields' remaining $12.5 million.

Either way, if you want extra players at discount prices, head on down to the Maple Leaf Sports Entertainment Store this week for all the holiday deals!

They actually Combine for 34 points, 11rebounds, 9 assists

Hmm, even though I want a pick. Getting rid of LF's deal would be oh so sweet.

I'd like to see a vet center who can play behind JV and log say, 20 minutes a night. And a first round pick from a team in the 15-20 range.

We just got Chuck Hayes, and he should only play about 10 minutes any given night, with the rest going to JV or Amir/Hansbrough in smallball.

We might have been better off with the Stuckey/Charlie expirings.

10gizzle 12-10-2013 02:31 PM

I'll take that potential 25 million in cap room, no problem.

how's Granger better than Gay, apart from needing time to adapt to a new system and injury proneness?

while it's nice, I wouldn't automatically get a hard on, remembering BC's flexibility plan..
continuity never gets a mention..

Did i say he was better? Good lord......but he's certainly better than Fields. And sorry, but that starting five screams No man's land!!

niggles 12-10-2013 02:45 PM

So far this season we've traded Gay. Nothing else has happened yet and anything else is just speculation and random posting on this forum of unsubstantiated articles. Where does this idiot from CBS come to a firesale going on? Must have pulled it from his ass.
