The proposed trade that would have sent Mickael Pietrus to the Raptors has been called off.

Pietrus had slight knee swelling following a workout for the Raptors, according to his agent Bill McCandless.

Pietrus described the trade as being postponed.

The Raptors medical staff determined that Pietrus needed two to four more weeks to be cleared for play.*

"This is just an injured player," McCandless said. "Mike says he will be ready. He's been working out for two weeks. Is he in game shape? No."

Reporter: What made you decide to come to Toronto?

Butler: They wanted me.

Admiral 12-10-2011 10:37 PM

Pietrus was at a tourny today in Toronto, is he still coming?

Bankiz 12-11-2011 06:23 AM

from what i understand, he will come later.
I think BC wait until he is healthy. in fact it's mre a hope, than anything else, i fear !

and for all the players we see coming in, i think it's about the training camp and training partner for the season.
Casay said he doesn't have a real second unit to train. so i think BC give him what he need, some player, cheap, whom will be doing what he need. some solid player whom can listen to a coach and be a team player, show to the young core what they need to do.

not a bad move in fact, beaause this year is about learning and building a new system.

but frward i don't see raptors capable of bring here big FA during the next summer.
so i understand the plan, but i don't see how they will achieve it.

He wants to. I hope that BC makes room for him before the trade deadline.

We can just, not sign Forbes. I'd take injured Pietrus against some scrub with bad D.

Do we need to just rid of Weems? :sigh:
I guess i'm the only one that like him.

no, there are others!

Bankiz 12-11-2011 01:17 PM

i like weems too, but we didn't let him go.
i choose to play in europe with no clause lockout.
so he must stay there.
i think we can bring him back next seasons, if we need a sg/sf again as backup !

no big deal... he's a 10th man.... if he learns how to defend and not jack shots I'm sure he can earn an NBA gig once again.

Gary Forbes baby! I'd also like to see Pietrus at some point... just like that guy.

Bankiz 12-12-2011 09:53 AM

some news about forbes or a sg/sf to come here complete the roster ?

because we have :

jBay/Caldy/?Carter?
DD/Barbosa/buttler
JJ/kleiza
Bargs/davis/amir
gray/magloire/alabi

so i wonder with kleiza out at least one or rwo more month, who will play backup sf ?

Butler can play SF, and so can Forbes, for whom we are just waiting the 3 days for the Nuggets not to match (and based on Forbes' tweet shortly after he signed, he was likely told by them that they would not match).

Doug Smith now reporting that Raptors are concerned Nuggets may now match as a result of a shortage of bodies in Denver. I guess we will find out soon enough (3 days is much better than the old 7 days).

Shifty.py 12-12-2011 10:45 AM

If I was Denver I would definitely match
It depends on whether Ujiri and BC have agreement

But then it leaves us with a roster spot... and Pietrus medical thing was postponed by 2 weeks

DanH 12-13-2011 04:49 PM

Chances of Denver matching drop a bit with them maybe getting Fernandez.

if Rudy could start in the role of JR Smith he could surprise everybody

Gary Forbes has officially signed with the Raptors, reportedly a three-year deal with the third year being a team option.
The Raptors apparently paid Forbes "double what Denver offered," but exact dollar amounts aren't known
