Pietrus can hit the 3, Johnson can't. And essentially he's athletic and can defend and most inportantly is a 5.3Mil expiring. This deal helps us in many ways. No brainer imo.

It's 5.3 million we could have used in picking up a real player. We haven't even played a single pre-seson game and we are already differing to next season. The guy shot just over 30% from three coming from a team were he was the worst three point shooter. He stats are going to bomb when he is the only one on the floor who is considered a deep threat. Why didn't we just resign Weems and Dorsey if our big off season pick ups are going to be Maglore and Pietrus.

very happy with this move
I'm not saying he's an elite player, but at least this guy is some sort of a "name" player
at least he will be a good piece for the coach to use for his D schemes, the transition into a better D team will be easier
at this point he's still an upgrade to any SF type player we have, this and the fact that kleiza is coming back should motivate JJ, you have an SF here that plays the wing and defends better than JJ and kleiza who plays the undersized PF style on the offense end better than JJ, this should be enough motivation for JJ to improve his game

I just think it's a give up move. We could have gone for a 3-4 year deal with any of the SF in FA. We would have still been looking to future seasons and not picking up a guy for 66 games at a tune of 5.3 million. Not to mention we didn't even wait for the amnesty or FA to pass. We could have made this deal next tuesday, when all other options had passed.

You don't think they know what their options are? They know exactly what the FA landscape is and who they could have signed. And I would think they have an idea of who will be amnestied and if those players would be willing to come here to a crap team. This helps us now and in the coming seasons. A move like this is no surprise considering what BC has said.

Why pay a player for 3-4 years to stop Harrison Barnes from becoming a franchise player for us?

Oh, and Pietrus shot .360 last year. Hardly "just over 30%." That .360 would place him... Second on the team to Jose (.365) last year. And well ahead of third (Bayless, .348).

Oh, and what do you care how much the Raps spend picking up a player like this? In all likelihood, by using a trade to pick up a player, they have allowed themselves to use the full MLE (pending confirmation on extension of TPE's) to sign additional players, leaving them with about the same amount of money to spend on free agents as before this trade. So what is your issue?

Solid pickup! I've always liked his game, not outspoken but looks like he knows his role. Defensive 3 who can shoot the 3?! And for a conditional. 2nd rounder is gold

excellent move BC!
Perfect fit for SF (albeit several years too late) and found a use for that cursed TPE!

Solid pick-up. Maybe the best defender on this team.

So the TPE (Bosh deal) has helped us get:

Bayless
Amir
Pietrus

Nope. Amir and Weems were part of the Delfino S+T.

The TPE brought us:
Bayless
Ajinca
James Johnson
Pietrus

Ajinca is gone, probably, but Bayless and Johnson are good pickups.

My issue is that is a redundant pick up. And like I said before he got alot of those looks from three off the threat of his team mates and being the last guy in the swing. He won't shot 30 % for us. The guy has never played full season in his entire career, we'll be lucky if we get 45 games out of him. For all of his Defensive prowess he never got off the bench post VC trade. I just think there were better options out there.

orlando staff always said, he is a good team-player.
so that could benefit casey to have a 3 like him to "build" this team, and a new culture.
at almost 30, he will be with magloire, caldy and barbosa the vets
in this team.

going forward, i think it's a good puck by BC. especially for a conditional 2nd rd pick !
