Default Recent slide a mixed blessing?

Okay...forgive me for being the eternal optimist, but I can't justify following the team if I don't hold some hope for good things to come.

When we were sitting pretty at 7 games over I was thrilled for our success but concerned of a guarenteed first round exit to Boston. Now we're in 8th and assuming we can maintain this spot or gain 1 if a team above us falters that will most likely mean a date against Orlando or Cleveland...which are by far the two best teams of the top 4 in terms of how we match up against.

So if there's something good to be said for our recent slide, it might be that we end up with a slightly more favourable matchup come playoff time. If there's even a hope in hell of advancing to the 2nd round for this team it's going to come against Orlando or Cleveland in my opinion.

So there it is.

except that if we stumble into the playoffs without any cohesion and playing the worst ball of the season, i don't like our chances against anybody. it's always better to come into the playoffs playing hot and doing your best against whatever opponent you face. it never works to come in and not be ready.

I can kinda agree. As messed as it sounds Cle would be a pretty good matchup although Shaq will seriously fuck us at the C. It still is a beter matchup compared to playing Boston, a team that has us beat 2 hours before the game starts.....

Totally right. Nothing will be given to them...they have to come together. I'm being an optimist and expecting they will....foolish as that may currently seem.

And Boston doesn't scare me right now. The only blessing I see is that it's become quite clear what a sack of poop our 7-foot mago is.

Colangelo has to view every game from here on in as if they were playoff games, because essentially they are. And he is going to have to be able to identify the weak links on that basis. There is that at least.

lol, u guys are hillarious. We're talking about the playoffs, regular season performances hold no merit to what Lebron will do to this team. The MLSE will have to reconsider this franchise after this sweep

So what you're saying is you're in the pessimist camp. Noted.

They are in the playoffs right now as far as how they need to approach every game. If that makes no difference then yeah - Jim Mora has it dead on. I have to give them a little bit more of a chance to get it together at home yet though, and maybe play like every game is the last one.

OP is correct on saying that we match up better with Cleveland or Orlando
That said its like claiming Human match up better with a Car or a Truck than with a Train or a Plane in a Head On Collision

The focus needs to be if we can win another game ... not worry about the playoffs.

The positive is that we are seeing our true scars/colors ... this gives BC a chance to trully assess what we have.

2 weeks ago, all the posts were about how we keep Bosh and get a strong '2'. We can't now all assume this is the wrong path. Success resolves around continuous improvement and stability.

BC could clean house again and start over ... not a bad approach, but this shit needs to stop sometime. Getting rid of our big contracts will take a magician ... BC could be the man.

I think our approach should be ...
- sign Bosh
- trade Caldy + ? (doesn't matter who as long as it isn't Amir or Bargs)
- trade Hedo for another expensive asset with an expiring contract or lets give him a chance again in year 2
- find a way to get a solid '2' ... can we get Iggy?
- thru the draft / trades ... not necessarily next year ... need to get a young starting PG. JJ is fine as the back-up.

I understand your approach.... all i will say is that if that's the approach the team will want to take, they may as well let Colangelo go while they're at it too.

That's if you're thinking of an overhaul of that nature.

Otherwise, i say you stand pat with the guys currently on the team and bring in a coach with a spine who can get them to play together. I mean FOR FUCKS SAKE, there's enough talent on the squad to be a good team. Just reading over our roster pisses me off.

Trading Hedo will never happen
Signing Bosh + Iggy = dreams that will never happen with MLSE

Trading Calderon could happen beucase after this year i think he has 2 more years left? Still tough to get rid of

possible move = trade Calderon + whoever and grab RIP, theres our SG problem solved
