Default Rebuild from the ground up

I say we trade pretty much everyone and fire BC and see where that takes us. Hell, it can't get much worse.

I'm at a loss for words right now. We lose a game, albeit one we should've won, and it's time to fire this guy, trade the entire roster, rebuild. Why? What use will it serve in the long term? Any?

oh.

then i'll tell you why i think your proposal makes little sense. We have some good talent here that is obviously not performing to expectations, but it's hardly a time to hold a clearance sale because we've had a poor start to the season.

Firstly, who do you think would be a better general manager for this team THAT WOULD ACTUALLY TAKE THE JOB if this plan was in place??? answer: nobody. Colangelo is the most respected GM we have EVER had. He has had one bad offseason thus far (this last one), but i have more confidence in him to right things than anyone else at the moment.

Secondly, what does that tell all of the fans who bought seasons tickets, buy merchandise, corporate sponsors, etc. It would be a terrible business move on all levels.

Thirdly, a mass overhaul like this would further send our team to point of obscurity which would truly danger it lasting in Toronto. free agents and other "big name" players are already reluctant about coming here (the whole Canada thing). It's unfair, but it's true. How does blowing things up help that? It doesn't - actually it'll make Toronto the true Siberia of the NBA.

In my opinion, we need one or two shake up trades. Maybe something like when Grunwald traded for Childs, and JYD that one year.

Now who goes? I don't know.

Or maybe ride this team out and hope they make the playoffs.
I still think we're a playoff team. Allbeit one that lacks toughness.

Yes because that's a realistic thing to do.

Guys, stop for a second, take a deep breath and think before you start threads like this one please.

this reminds me of a TFC game i was at last season.

Game was shitty and suddenly i heard someone a few rows behind me say "We should just trade the whole team and fire everyone."

I LOL'd.

Yes the Raptors have been dissapointing but man just look at the big picture.

The Raptors have been first round pushovers the last couple of years and are having a rough time of things this year yes. However; at least the Raptors do have some sort of credibility. Ownership is viable, people come to the games and the Basketball braintrust isn't too bad.

The Raptors always had a credibiliity problem in the NBA and fans just want to waste all the credibility they have earned by making a dumb move by firing the coach and start rebuilding.

I have to tell you this team may be mediocore but watching a rebuilding team makes you want to rake your eyes out.

Think before you speak and if you don't like it the Celtics and Lakers always have room on their bandwagon

I enjoy watching the leafs rebuilding this year, then the 5 previous years, even when they made the playoffs and you knew they had no shot of doing anything, i rather suck bad for a couple years, stack young talent and make a serious run, but thats just me i guess.

Ownership being viable? Did you really ever think MLSE was going broke? lol, ill agree with respect, but if you BC suddenly made players want to play in Canada, you are fooling yourself.

Well MLSE didn't own the Raptors from its inception. Remeber Bitove and where he and Alan Slaight went?
Or how about Zeke trying to pull the rug on the Raptors and join Stavro.
Raptors weren't always run by MLSE.

Also, I didn't say BC MADE players come to Canada. BC gave the franchise an angle of "respect".

When was the last time a player on Toronto demanded out? Not on BCs watch thats for sure

Lets see how much respect we get in 2010, that will really answer the question, will a true high end FA want to play here? I really doubt it unfortunately

I think Colengelo is very overrated. He should thank D'antoni and Nash for the salary he's getting right now. He has done way too many mistakes in his career. I don't understand why Grunwald has to be worse than BC. We were one shot close to Eastern finals under his management. We could not pass one round with a supposedly better team under BC.

LOL didn't bother reading most of these posts but wtf? rebuilding is the stupidest idea ever...we just need one more scorer and a little bench presence which can be added

You can hop down off your horse anytime big fella, sometimes people cry wolf because there is, in fact, a big ole badass wolf....

In Toronto's case, that wolf is thier shoddy ass Roster.

Raptors made a move they should have made at the end of last season... fire Mitchell. He was definitely overrated and now that he has been fired at the beginning of the season it will be a struggle to accomplish much this year. If he had been fired in the offseason it would have given the Raptors an entire offseason to adjust to a new coach... and maybe even land D'antoni.

perhaps, but adjusting to a lack of a NBA top tier 2 or three guy is hard, and adjusting to having shit for a back up PG is as well. Mind you, Roko is looking good in flashes lately.

This team is just not good enough to compete. I like them, but they aren't all that thick, they are thin.
