Default Reason for Derozan's elevated 4th Q play?

Is it a fluke? because he isn't getting involved? or is it because the defense forgot about him?

He played with more intensity in the 4th Quarter and he made his shots.

It's a conspiracy to have his nickname be CLUTCH. That's why there's mediocre play for the first 3 quarters.

Whatever it is, good for him.

However, I am concerned about one thing. This happened for the second straight game. How is DeMar doing so well in the 4th, but struggling early in the game?

In my opinion, he's forcing way too much in the first half. I think he's trying to make spectacular plays instead of smart plays. If you watch replays, a lot of his shots in the first half vs CLE and IND comes from contested, isolated jumpers. In the second half, he usually got a lot of opportunities from simple spot-up jumpers from a team mate.

He really needs to calm it down and play with more self control to start the game. We all know he can do it since he's doing it in the latter parts of the game.

I think it's because the ball isn't going where it's supposed to go. In the 4th, you see Andrea and Demar getting most of the touches, while in the 1st & 2nd you only see Jose launching jumpers and only looking for Amir.

Jose isn't doing a good job of distributing the rock early in the clock.

I agree with you to an extent.

In the first game, I thought Jose did a better job in getting people involved in the offence. I was very happy with several alley-oop passes to DeRozan and getting his confidence up. However, there were times when he passed it to DeRozan and he ended up dribbling away the shot clock. This goes back to what Casey is trying to say, "trust the pass." DeRozan needs to earn the offence's trust by continuing ball distribution in order to get more touches.

All Demar needs is a sexy PG to get him the rock during the first 3 quarters.

Hard to say - this game, in particular, DD hit some really tough shots in the 4th quarter, which he didn't make earlier on.

I think he really needs to take it to the line more, especially when his shot isn't falling. I like that his jumper is much better this season, but he's not as aggressive now, especially if one or two early trips to the basket don't pan out. He needs to make things easier for himself by getting to the foul line.

Bang on, AR. ("that's what she said!")

I also noticed that DeMar is settling a lot more for jumpers this year. Even in the fourth quarter, it's mostly jump shots. He's eventually going to have a game where his shots are off. What is he going to do then?

He did the right thing hitting those midrange shots, and the 3's looked inexplicably good. The problem with the first 3 quarters for the whole team, was that they shied away from the jumpers when the lane was clogged up. It was good to stop going right at the teeth of their defense, and paid off some for Demar.

like some of you said, i doesn't go to the line. and yesterday i saw him stop 2-3 times in action to go the basket. like not sure about himsef if he can do this or not.

i think it's more a matter of system which isn't ready yet on offense. because, in the fourth, caset seems to draw some play to get him the ball, and that works out.

but why the hell doesn't he go for the east dunk, or lays-up ? that is mysterious. yesterday i saw him avoid contact, and ask myself if he was not a little injure. like last year when he play trough a little injury in the beginning of the season.
