Really disappointed with Bargnani

He's in the game for scoring reasons and he's not doing that anymore. 48 48 minutes and 19 points is disappointing, especially only 8 rebounds. In only 19 minutes Ed Davis had 9 rebounds. His pick and roll D has been very awful.

Torontosaurus 11-13-2012 12:36 AM

The fact that he got any rebounds is a MIRACLE from what we're used to..

Bargn88 11-13-2012 12:38 AM

This game should have ended in regulation to begin with. Derozan and Kleiza were the hot hands throughout the game, Kleiza fouled out, so we had to pretty much feed Derozan all night. Bargnani missed some really easy shots around the rim on his post up moves, he didn't chuck a lot of outside shots, or deep 2's. Most of his misses were in the paint, and he did get to the freethrow line more than anyone else.

Simply put it wasn't his night.

Derozan was fantastic though, reminded me of Vintage Carter in his best years.

What do you expect? Even if he scores 40pts, any lack of defensive consistency will result in a loss.
He stands 2 feet away, watching Jose caught under the basket against Milsap and doesn't move a lipid.
There's bad D and there's ABD

I really loved you in troll 2, the way you devoured that carcass

8 rebounds from Bargs! :willy_nilly:

I won't be sad if Stumbles isn't on next year's team.

LJkAze 11-13-2012 12:57 AM

Man I kinda hate Barg more then I hate Jose; Please BC trade Barg :sigh:

MBailey85 11-13-2012 12:58 AM

I'm not gonna pile on Bargnani. He started out the gates hot,we've seen this before. I think he needs to create a half time rutual or something so he gets off to the same start in the second half. He rebounded, did some good things that didn't make the stat sheet.

At the same time,I think his time may need to be up as a Raptor. He just felt none exsistent in the late and crucial moments of the game. I really would like Millsap as the Raptors starting PF even more than ever after tonight,he hustles and he can even make the 3 too(was 3/4 tonight). Bargs just seems to be regressing for some reason, maybe a change of scenery is best for him and the Raps, just a thought

He's not a great athlete, and its well known he struggles when he plays heavy minutes. He looked completely gassed in OT, and was just handing the ball off to Derozan, which was understandable considering DD was on fire.

I also wonder if the potential for a calf strain was leaning on his mind after the first OT session.

Bargnani is a good player and can be very productive on a contending team BUT his role and the expectations for him in Toronto being a former #1 pick is proving to be too much. Time to cut the losses and move on. Can't be worried about fatigue,a calf strain or getting his jumper going. 5/17 tonight although he got to the line.

If that's the case bench or trade him, being out shape is inexcusable. Why should he be getting minutes if everyone else is busting their tail to be ready for the season and games?

If he's out of shape at this point then I throw up my hands and give up on this clown.

AR1815 11-13-2012 10:14 AM

His hedging late in the game was turrible. Only once did I see him actually cut Mo off and make him change direction. Every other time, Mo blew by to the rim resulting in a wide open shot for somebody. And to make things worse, Bargs wouldn't hustle back to cover his man, leading to at least one putback by Favors. I only watched the 4th quarter and the overtimes, so not sure how much better he was throughout the rest of the game, but that poor help D is nothing more than a lack of hustle/heart.

Really disappointing to see, especially since he was giving us nothing on offense. In my book, his poor play late in the game cost us the game, more so than DD's poor shots at the end and Casey's (once again) questionable rotation.

myklue 11-13-2012 10:19 AM

disappointed is an understatement. He wasn't moving period on defense or offense in OT when you need to step up. It was like he tired which I believe what was the case he used all his energy in the first 4 quarters.

FLO 11-13-2012 10:23 AM

This is how Bargnani's been. The only reason he's still here is our narcissist of a GM drafted him first overall. Any other franchise would have given up on him already and either traded him or dramatically reduced his role. His entire tenure as a Raptor has been the team trying to cover up for his deficiencies instead of forcing him to fix them.

jeffb 11-13-2012 10:32 AM

Anyone still think he's an all-star? Remember last season after 13 games and I said I needed to see more from him and I got flamed......"What more do you need, he'll never get credit around here. Nothing he does is good enough".

This is why. ;)

DDUnreal 11-13-2012 10:53 AM

Where proving points happens.

FLO 11-13-2012 11:09 AM

You can't focus on all-star status. From the standpoint of play so far, Lowry and DD have put up all-star numbers. For instance, DD is first in the East among SGs in PPG. Even if this continued to the all-star break he wouldn't make it because it's a popularity contest.

In my opinion, all things considered, Bargnani has proven all he can be is a 6th man on a marginal playoff team. He basically plays like Kleiza. Ride him if he's hot, bench him if he's not. This is made worse by his frustrating tendency to give you nothing at all when he isn't the focus of the offense.
