only think I'm shocked about is how many people had a problem with this pick, so soon after watching a big "euro" lead his team to the NBA title.

What does that have to do anything?

I was hoping we'd get him, but I didn't think colangelo had the patience, especially given his short contract.it's too bad people don't see how gutsy this move was

I think all the hate with the pick yesterday has 100% to do with the short comings of Bargnani rather than any buyout issue. Lets say Raptors chose Aldridge or Rudy Gay in 2006, no way this kid gets boo'd. Lets give the kid a chance. Good luck Jonas.

I said last night it was a ballsy move. I think must understand that, even the media gave him that credit, which i was shocked about.

agreed, i still place bayless as at least as exciting as walker.

i am confident that in 2 years (maybe meaning the start of the 3rd season from now,) we will be a stronger team than the team that made the play-offs with bosh. Even if we couldn't get barnes.

I personally am quite happy how things are panning out so far, I just wanna see if the team worked hard in the off season and them develop at a good pace. As much as i would liek to be in the playoffs next year, it probably wont happen, and the draf tis deep next year so we could get a solid player. Hopefully barnes, but there is also perry jones and terrence jones at SF so ye. Its looking good so far

More than one media outlet is saying toronto got the best player in the draft.

I'm happy.

I dislike this pick because I wanted to be the next OKC, not the next Timberwolves

That's why I liked the pick: OKC didn't become great by pretending to compete when they couldn't. Instead, they bottomed out hard and picked up two franchise players.

I don't know about you guys, but it is not enough for this team to play an exciting style of basketball. I'm interested in a long-term winner, not a flash in the pan. I would gladly watch another losing season if it means that the team has a better chance at, say, advancing past the first round at some point in the next decade.

If the team sucks DD is not going to re-sign.

why are you so obsessed with DD? yes he's a decent player, but he's no lebron or kobe. it won't hurt if he leaves

Drafting Jonas could have been huge for as if we have had another top 10 pick, which means we could have drafted Walker/ Knight.
The Raps are desperate for some swagger and leadership and I feel like Walker could have been a great fit for us.
Basically what BC and DC did here is drafting for the future… but we need new blood as soon as NOW, the fans are frustrated, and we have every good reason to be, after losing Chris Bosh, and having a terrible season we were hoping to at least be able to watch the Raps go hard this season. No one was thinking we can be really good but at fun to watch, I am sure Kemba could have brought this. The guy just carry UCONN all the way, and I couldn’t be happier if they paired him up with DD, who wanted him to be here. We need to keep our players happy, and if we think that DD wanted him here and he could help us, I will go for it all the way. But basically BC tells us, go screw yourself for a year or two and let’s then see if this kid is a beast or a bust… unfortunately, none of us is willing to sit still and watch the Raps been abused knowing we picked Jonas KNOWING we had names like Walker, Knight, Thompson and Burks on the board…

Sorry, but this doesnt make much sense -->
If the strategy was to pick the BPA we probably did that, but he value right now is poor due to the buy-out and the fact we want our team to look competitive. Jonas might be a great player, but under circumstances we could have done better.
might be a great player but you would have passed on him in order to get a quick 'kemba' fix?..

After doing more research I'm more confident and happy with who we picked.

Yes it will. Answer me this... just who the fuck will replace him? We haven't had a good SG like DeRozan since Vince Carter, and that says alot. There is no reason to trade the core group we are rebuilding with, if anything you trade useless pieces like Calderon, Kleiza, Bargnani, etc.

That sorta seems to what one of the Basketball Jones said today Lol. Well similar to your OP.

I for one wasn't expecting us to pick Jonas. It would of been cool to get Thompson but he got picked right before we even got a chance to. If Cleveland did draft Jonas, I would of expected us to take at least Walker/Thompson. You have to think about there being a reason as to why both Walker and Knight dropped to 8th and 9th respectively. But meh it could be just BC knowing the team will suck again and hoping to get another top 5 pick next year and pick their PG from there on. It would of been nice to get a caliber player of someone whose like Walker though.

But still how long do we have to wait for this guy to develop. All of these expectations are to just make themself feel better imo. Every year when a big man comes out and is really raw with not much skill set. They say that he has all the right tools, young and blah blah, broad and etc. But then again think about all the same big men who met that criteria and arent even in the league anymore

It's nice how so many fans here are satisfied with losing. I wonder if Demar Derozan and Ed Davis share the same foresight and patience as you wonderful fans.

Are they going to put their trust in the growth a 20 year old kid they've never seen in action if they finish another season or 2 under 30 wins? No, they're going to head out the door.

I'm not disagreeing with any moves by the way, just this notion that we're playing for the lotto again. I guarantee that Casey has his eyes on the playoffs. If not, we hired the wrong guy.

Oh they'll be trying to win. I don't doubt that, and that's good. But this team isn't likely to fully take shape until another season is in the books. The more they can move in the right direction until then the better. And a long lockout could really help this team get another high pick with not so much pain at all.
