Exclamation Ray Allen to join Wade and Bosh in Miami?

Quote:
The latest buzz has Ray Allen looking to bolt the Celtics when he becomes free on July 1 to join Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh in Miami.

But potential free agents are not a concern for the Lakers heading into Sunday's Game 5 with the series tied 2-2. Their big worry now is what they're going to get from Bynum, who had fluid drained from his right knee Friday.
Quote:
Sources close to the Celtics' veteran shooting guard say that he's not exactly thrilled that Rajon Rondo is playing a more prominent role in the offense, and is looking at Miami as a potential destination. Bosh has long been rumored to be leaving Toronto to go to the Heat, which intends to re-sign Wade and has enough cap space to land Bosh with a maximum-salary deal.

From the Celtics' standpoint, they'd like to keep Allen, although he's looked every bit his age (he'll be 35 in July) during the Finals. When asked about Boston's "window of opportunity" closing for good in this title run, Rivers said, "I don't think it is. I think Kevin (Garnett) is going to be better next year, a year away from surgery. Hopefully, we sign Ray back - I think I can say that. If not, I just got fined."

I have a feeling he's gonna re-sign with Boston, unless they only want to sign him to a short deal.

I don't buy this for a second. Why would a veteran like Allen with one ring already from this team, on the verge of a second want to bolt and uproot again? He will retire in Boston if they keep him around long enough, book it.

Celtics have 2 rings in 3 years, might as well win in the twilight of your career
but he might be looking for his last paycheck before he retires

Boston's window is closing sooner rather than later, while Miami will have a 3-5 year window depending on how long Bosh and Wade sign for.

That would be a pretty interesting team if it were to happen.

Yeah, even with a washed up JO that would be a solid starting lineup. The bench would be nice to. Big man rotation of Bosh, O'neal and Haslem is never bad.

I have a feeling Miami will end up with Amare or Boozer this summer. Or maybe that's just wishful thinking?!

I could see it, depending on what Ray-ray is wanting more.

I don't think Boston can win again (if they succeed this year), and a team with Bosh and Wade would be a great spot for anyone. Especially a guy who likes to play off the ball!

The addition of Ray would also make it a more attractive location for Bosh, if he feels they don't have the right roster in place now.

Oh yeah it's closing fast...so fast they may not be able to beat the best team in the league for the title At least let Boston decline before writing them off as their window closing.

You could use that argument to describe San Antonio and I might buy it but not Boston. Clearly they're still at the top of their game. I wouldn't expect this for more than another season or 2 tops but they haven't declined yet.

The thing about these teams that want Bosh + Wade or Lebron or Johnson, is that none of them would have any depth whatsoever. And if Bosh goes down for 20 games which he's apt to do...good luck to them.

boston is on a decline, they're definitely not as strong or as consistent as they were in 2008. That doesn't mean they won't win the championship.

That's just my point. 4 years at the top in Miami vs. maybe 2 more years at the top for Boston.

Two years my balls! This is the final championship Boston will play for with this team as currently constructed.

Playing with Bosh and Wade doesn't guarentee being at the top...just ask Lebron. He's already there with Boston. He won't leave unless he's left out of Boston's plans IMO.

I don't think it's unfair to start counting out boston for next year, they have the following under contract:

Garnett
Rasheed
Perkins
Glen Davis
Rondo

Pierce (assuming he accepts his option).

- Garnett has played well recently but there is little doubt he is on the decline.

- Rasheed is lazy and isn't going to bring it game in and out

- Perk- love the perk but he is a 5th option (Great D though)

- Rondo (love rondo)

- Glen Davis - Good player, nothing fantastic, but good player

- Pierce is a great scorer but people are going to clamp down on him because no one on the team can shoot.

The only "outside" threats they would have would be Sheed and to a much lesser degree, KG, and counting on those guys to carry you to the finals is not a good bet imo next year.

The other problem is that they are overloaded with bigs. They have to make a trade or sign a nice free agent to fill their deficienies at guard.

Personally, I feel trading one of their younger/upcoming bigs is a bad move and they won't get much value out of their older bigs.

That leaves the FA market to fill that void. I think they could look really good if they have the room for Wade or JJ or another GOOD wing.

Otherwise, the window closes a little next year and then totally shuts the year after.

Wasn't this said after they won their first championship? And here they are, contending again.

Yeah but I think the emergence of Rondo to the level he plays could not have been reasonably foreseen.

Imagine if Rondo didn't turn out this way! Team would be screwed right now.
