Default Rasho: Smartest guy on the team

If it weren't for size of his contract, I'd love to keep a vet like him longer but obviously if BC can move him now then its better for the team and our cap. Either way if he stays or goes, it could be worse and we could be stuck with dead weight like Jerome James and a contract like he has.

Anyhow, caught this little blurb in Doug Smith Blog today:

I’m telling you know, if Rasho’s still here come playoff time, he’s going to be hugely valuable. He’s got the size, experience and savvy to help anchor halfcourt defences and that’s what you need in the post-season.

I asked one of the zillion ex-Raptor assistants on the Milwaukee staff what he thought of Rasho and the answer was quick: “Smartest guy on the team.”

I for one would be sad to see Rasho leave this team. I think he does a lot more than we realize and probably helps Bosh's game the most.

I'd be sad if Rasho left too and I've never really understood the bad rap he got from Spurs fans, but his contract could prove to be a huge asset and if a move comes that'll helps the team in the future then I'll understand.

I think it was the size of his contract at the time and that fans didn't think he deserved the money that he was getting. Don't blame him for making the money, blame the teams that signed him to the contract. If Rasho was making 4 to 5 million dollars per season he'd be a steal. Not for what he can only do on the floor, but I believe he's alot more vocal than some would imagine in the lockeroom too. Classy vet to have on one's team.

If it was up to me, I'd see him play out his contract here and then I'd extend him for a lesser, reasonable amount for another 2-3 years.

You'd have to believe that Rasho would love to stay in TO, he already has his ring, his money, he's friends with Sam, he should love the city itself, so as long as we offer him something reasonable, why would he go away?

Rasho's totally worth his contract...no question. The fact we're using him to groom and buy time for Andrea makes it seem otherwise but dont' make that mistake. Talented, smart 7 footers are rare and valuable. We wouldn't have made the playoffs last year without him and i'd like to see him get some more minutes this year....20per game would be about right.
