Rasho endorses Messina.... Big time!

Rasho Nesterovich said he'd love to play in Toronto for Messina or wherevever he coaches in the NBA. Because he instills a winning mentality. He makes a good point by saying that in Europe they don't play as much, therefore winning is a must and every game is so vital.

Interesting....

Sound good to me. Rasho backing up Bargs would be good, and Messina looks good for us as well. Shit any coach looks good ahead of Jay Triano. I just hope that the draft goes well and we can make a few good moves to shore up the 2-3 spots. How expensive would Messina be? I'm assuming, not very...if he wants to coach in the NBA.

Messina is a good choice, only if top assistants don't get hired by the Raps

everyone pray for Smitch to get a job so the Raps don't have to pay him

I doubt he'll be in Minny next year. McHale is doing a good job and the GM already said that McHale will be back

i don't think anyone hates messina

people, like myself, just want a coach that knows how to deal with the nba personalities.

ask tim floyd and rick pitino about that. they're were considered one of the best in the game, still are, yet they both lasted about a minute up in the nba.

Pitino had some bad luck in his Boston stint. John Calipari also had some bad luck in New Jersey. To be honest, I'd consider him actually.

Tim Floyd is an arrogant douchebag from everything I've read. I'd like to see what Billy Donovan could do. Hell, even guys like Roy Williams and Coach K are great coaches but probably could never handle the egos of NBA players.

If Messina was brought in, we'd literally have to clean the slate of egos and look to bring in team guys like Battier, Ginobli etc. (Not saying we have a chance at that, but those "type" of guys).

I think Battier would be an absolute pleasure to have on this team.

If we are gonna wipe the slate clean and build chemistry from the ground up, that guy is incredibly valuable to have. Messina, Rasho, Battier...these seem like good pieces to build a stable franchise.

I asked about the hate to him particulary because if I remember correctly, he hated the idea of bringing him. So I dont understand the change of feelings. Maybe Im wrong and he did like Messina but I doubt it.

Like I have said before, and like you both Claudius and Funk have mentioned, the big question mark is if how he will handle the NBA egos. He is known to be pretty tough on his players and he will treat every player the same, doesnt matter if hes Bosh or Jake.
The thing is the only two guys that could be considered "NBA egos" right now in this team are Bosh and Marion. Marion will probably be gone so that leaves the question of how will Bosh take it. And if you ask me, he is a down to earth and intelligent guy so I dont think there would be any problems.

Bosh will be gone this summer as well though.

Everyone's looking forward to having some "hard-ass" coach in to save this franchise... lol... yet we had one here for 4 years and he lost the players all the same.

Look at Larry Brown when he was in N.Y. One of the best teachers of the game bar NONE... yet after N.Y. people were saying that he was washed up and overrated... just because he couldn't get a bunch of overpaid primadonnas to play properly.

Now Larry has some guys on his team that have GUTS and know that it's more about winning than flashy dunks... guys who are willing to DIE to play D. And it's showing up in the win/loss column.

People can throw the blame on Triano all they want but all goes back to the players. 100%. It's up to BC to fix this.

To Smitch.... I apologize.. I STILL don't think that you can coach your way out of a paper bag but this sinking team wasn't your fault.

all that matters is your star/stud player buying into the coaches system. It shouldn't matter what Rasho thinks, as long as your first option or leader and the head coach are on the same page you're going to have a strong relationship.

I've just stated before that I would like to take a look at coaches with NBA experience either as top assistants or former head coaches

Messina would be a top 5 coaching candidate
