Bosh and Garbajosa to Atlanta for Horford, Marvin Williams and Acie Law
Why For Toronto? AT this point, it's hard to give up Bosh, a 3-time all star and a fan favourite, but I can't see Bosh and Bargnani playing on the court at the same time, especially if they're both going to play the perimeter. Horford would play the 5 and give the team toughness and rebounding. Marvin Williams, at 6-9, 245 is a small forward that few could match up with.
Why for Atlanta? They make a splash and bring a recognizable name home (Bosh played 1 year at Georgia Tech). Team Bosh up with Joe Johnson, Josh Smith and Mike Bibby and they have a formidable 4. Garbo's contract runs out at the end of the season and probably returns to Europe

And

Ford, Nesterovic and a future 1st to Dallas for Josh Howard and Erick Dampier
Why for Toronto? Another wing player - would probably move to the 2 if Williams is acquired. Howard although had problems in Dallas is a long, athetic swingman this team has been looking for since the Carter trade.
Why for Dallas? Ford goes back to his home state and becomes the heir apparent to Jason Kidd. Nesterovic is a free agent at the end of the year and they get rid of that awful Dampier contract. The sweetner is the future 1st.

IMO there is no way Atlanta trades Horford now - even for Bosh. He's a beast and he came to play in the playoffs. If Atlanta is going to make a splash it'll be for a PG because Bibby is a shell of his former self.

Just to prove how ridiculous this thread is going to get, the fact that people are talking about Horford in any sort of trade off the top should be proof enough...

I think a Marvin Williams for Ford trade isnt out of the question. ATL isnt gonna sign both Williams and Smith this offseason with their management the way it is I dont think, so I think Williams can be had.

Actually come to think of it itd make a lot of sense for both teams. ATL would turn into a powerhouse if they could fill the SF spot with a veteran shooter type and a couple bench pieces, and we get the other scorer we need, and Marvin is a very good defender from what I've seen this year.

I'd rather have childress than marvin, it will probably come cheaper and marvin plays too much like Bosh imo. Childress is more of a nocioni kind of player, a hustler ...

We dont need a Nocioni type player, we need a scorer who can play some defence and Marvin fits that bill perfectly.

And how does Marvin play like Bosh at all? The only similarity is they both take a high% of their shots from the mid range area, thats it.

We don't need a Nocioni type player?

Last I checked we were soft and lacking anyone with any stones.

Nocioni = a more skilled, quicker Garbo.

I think we could definitely use a guy like that in addition to someone like you mentioned.

Actually I'd do that Williams trade. He's only 21 and put up 15/6 this year, and if you take him away from Joe Johnson dominating the ball and gave him more freedom, that might've been even better. He definitley has 20ppg potential, I think he's a hugely underrated asset to be honest. I also have to think Atlanta would love to have TJ's speed in their system.

I'd prefer that deal to Nocioni. I'm not up to date on that cap situation though, how much does Atlanta have under this year again? A problem is that TJ makes 8 mil, wouldn't that be more expensive than resigning Marvin? Or maybe we'd toss them some of our expirings to make it work.

I didnt mean he wouldnt be a player thatd be a good fit, I meant that he wouldnt be the solution to our problem in the scoring and defence department, and if he got traded here we'd more than likely stop looking for a 2nd scorer.

Itd obviously be fantastic getting him to be our 6th man, but I dont think he'd be brought into this team to come off the bench because right now hes better than all of our swingmen obviously, and although im not sure of his contract numbers he'd probably take up a decent part of our cap that we could have used to get that 2nd guy we need.

In other words, Marvin>>>>>Nocioni

Marvin reminds me of a young Tim Thomas minus the 3pt shooting (not necessarily a bad thing), however I actually like Childress better.

I think anything of value in return for TJ would be just swell.

When did Thomas play hard and play defence?

Rumour: Heat are expressing interest in Ford.

Quote:
If the Heat cannot draft Derrick Rose, one potential point-guard trade option who intrigues management is Toronto's T.J. Ford (the Raptors say they will keep Jose Calderon).

I'd do this in a heartbeat. Especially if it were top-7. Ford + Toronto pick for Miami pick. And with that pick, I'd use it on Brook Lopez or Eric Gordon.
