In its annual listing of the value of NBA franchises, Forbes finds Lakers to be worth $607 million, up four per cent for the league champions. Second are the New York Knicks at $586 million, but that is a four per cent drop. The Knicks led the rankings for the four previous seasons.

The Chicago Bulls ($511 million), Detroit Pistons ($479 million) and Cleveland Cavaliers ($476 million) round out the top five.

The Toronto Raptors -- 11th place on the list -- were estimated to be worth $386 million, citing a three per cent drop in value.

At the bottom of the 30-team rankings are the Milwaukee Bucks at $254 million. The league average worth is $367 million, down four per cent, according to Forbes.

Seems reasonable... once we win a championship 50 years from now, I'm sure that number will rise

Cleveland in the top 5. With the merchandise, ticket sales, and tv revenue that Lebron generates, how far do you think Clevevland would drop if Lebron leaves. When you think of Cleveland, you don't think of bustling metropolis. That's the impact of one player!!!

I would think that being almost in the top third of all teams is a pretty good place to be.

That's impressive to me, considering this is still a young franchise with very little success on the court. That plus, we're a Canadian team which is for the most part not taken seriously by an American dominated league. Now all we'd need is a little success in the playoffs and we could get over 400Mil and get into the top 10.

haven't you heard the news? If the raps don't win this year or next they never will. no one will because there won't be any league...or any civilization.
