That had a lot to do with the time slot, 12:30 start on a Sunday.

The good news is I think those numbers are up from a few seasons ago and our home opener on the Score this year had 420,000 viewers. However, to put things in perspective, back in 2001 their playoff run averaged 700,000+ viewers on CTV.

The CBC numbers would be higher if the games were played later in the day. I dont think casual fans in B.C. want to wake up at 9:30am on a Sunday to watch the game.

Figure skating and curling. I guess people enjoy being bored out of their minds.

I don't think it helps that TSN2 isn't a basic cable channel either. You can get CBC and CTV with rabbit ears for Christ's sake.

The other question I have is, what is the marketing like in other parts of Canada re: the Raptors?

There is only one way the Raps will get back the National love it had in 2000. They need a superstar flashy player (like VC in those days).

Agreed that the GTA numbers would look much differently, but realize that the Raptors are barely a blip outside of Ontario.

It's hard to bring new viewers in. The "you-only-need-to-watch-the-last-2 minutes" mentality of non-bball-fans is tough to overcome. Mostly because it's true. The way the games drag on at the end is ridiculous.
