Default raptors voted 7th in the conference

10 espn writers voted on the east, our average is 7.3 for 7th place in the east, far away from 6th place chicago, and slightly in front of Miami

that sounds realistic, maybe a little low, we should be ahead of chicago based on almost any criteria, but people are in love with teams who do well in the playoffs. Chicago's most likely path is GSW's a couple years ago, when they surprised dallas in the playoffs, only to dissapoint one year later. But wizards and atlanta have to be ahead of us, on paper.

Personally, I think we will finish 4th, but it's not impossible to finish 8th or even 9th, if many things go wrong.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I'm going out on a limb and say we don't make the playoffs. Something isn't clicking with the mix of the players we have. Don't ask me what it is, just going with my gut feeling on this. I think we'll make things interesting, but will fall short come the end of April. Injuries will definitely play an important factor.

This will now conclude my annual pessimistic prediction for this season's version of the Toronto Raptors.

The predictions look about right as things stand right now, but it's a long season and things never turn out as predicted from the start.

way too early to come to that kind of conclusion.

Remember a few years ago when we had all those new players (Parker, TJ, Garbo, Rasho, etc)? Well we started off slowly then. I don't remember the preseason record, but it doesn't matter anyhow. Point is that year, once things started clicking, we were a really good team.

I watched Chicago play Orlando last night.

They looked really nice and Rose wasn't even playing.

we were 2-8 to start the regular season in 06-07, and we ended up winning the atlantic. yeah...

and i have no idea why people are expecting the wiz to be any good this year. they have a bunch of guys that all play the same 'tweener position in exactly the same way. i'll be shocked it they are any better than the 7th or 8th seed.

I saw a few minutes of that game while the starters were playing, and I thought that both offenses were a little sloppy, but that the defense for both was worse. I just don't think you can take anything away from pre-season games.

It's amazing how quickly Raptors fans go from excited to devastated.

We wee actually 7-0 before losing our final pre-season game in Chicago ...
But the season we started 2-8, with a nasty 6 game losing streak

either way, for a team with so many players, the biggest need this pre- season was to experiment . Often, players were not put in the bet situation, as triano is trying to see where everybody fits, and which are their limitations. The only pre-season dissapointment was against the rockets, and against Boston, our starters played on equal terms.

Just to clarify, I was optimistic (more than I have in years), not overly excited. But I'm always skeptical of this franchise no matter how much I love it.
