Raptors TV Schedule Released

As per Grange, to see what networks are covering which games check the schedule at Raptors.com.

But the breakdown and highlights are as follows:

I just got the releases and have perused them for highlights:

* Multi-year agreements with the Score and TSN.

* CBC will feature 12 games this season, all available in HD, with 11 on Sunday afternoons and one on a Saturday afternoon.

*The CBC schedule includes the Celtics (November 23), Chris Paul and the New Orleans Hornets (December 14), the Orlando Magic and Dwight Howard (January 4), and lone Toronto appearance by the Phoenix Suns (January 18).

*The Score will air 20 Raptors games, all in HD, including the regular-season opener Wednesday, October 29 at Philadelphia and the home opener October 31 versus the Golden State Warriors.

*The Score will also bring viewers 40 NBA U.S. matchups including the Thursday TNT doubleheader along with original programming of its signature show, Court Surfing. Court Surfing will be expanded to 2.5 hours and air on Tuesday nights, along with NBA Action and NBA XL.

* TSN and TSN2 will televise 48 Raptors contests across Canada during the 2008-09 campaign, with all games being broadcast in HD.

*TSN will also carry the conference finals and select playoff games, NBA All-Star Weekend coverage, including the 58th annual All-Star Game on February 15 from US Airways Center in Phoenix and exclusive Canadian coverage of the NBA Finals..

* Raptors NBA TV will carry two games in HD in 2008-09, November 10 at Boston and January 5 at Milwaukee.

The full schedule is up on Raptors.com but the first 'blackout game' -- i.e. the first game on TSN2 and thus unavailable to the million+ Rogers customers in the GTA and elsewhere is Nov. 16th against Miami. The next don't come around again until Dec. 15, 17th, 19th and 22nd, when the Raps are scheduled to be on the "The Deux" (I'm copying that 'cos I like it) four games in five.

My prediction is the Miami game gets sacrificed to posturing between Rogers and Bell GlobeMedia, and it gets sorted out shortly after that.

Overall I'll be very interested to see how the CBC's slate of Sunday games does, with the benefit of truly national distribution and some promotion on Saturday nights from HNIC. Are there sports fans who will watch basketball out there? Or is the Raptors audience forever to be limited to a hardy but narrow band of basketball fans.

What? I have bell and i love it. I get TSN 2 and over 50 HD channels. All sports channels in HD. I would recomend switching to bell because then you dont have to worry about missing 25 Raptors games.

80/82 games. Guess I'll be putting on a few pounds this winter.

If Rogers doesn't pick up TSN2 then that forces me to watch the games online.

Sherm's doing the two RaptorsTV games. I thought his sole purpose was to make the preseason games even more unbearable. I didn't think it extended to the regular season.
