Default Raptors Trade Talk Heating Up?

Hmmmm .... could it be that we're closer to a deal with either GSW or Charlotte that we think?

Rumour has that a Italian media outlet was told that Belinelli will be dealt to the East in the next couple days. Could there we a deal in place in bringing Belinelli here as well?

Each is a veteran small forward who would be an upgrade on the inconsistent Moon. Harrington has the more attractive contract - his deal will expire in 2010. The slashing, ball-hawking Wallace might have the more attractive game, though the five years and nearly $50-million (U.S.) he has left on his contract comes with more risk, particularly given Wallace's concussion history.

The real sticking point is that the player who clubs ask about is inevitably Bargnani, whom Colangelo remains bullish on and who is showing signs of putting last season's sophomore pratfall behind him.

But one might guess that Colangelo's belief in the former No. 1 draft pick's long-term potential doesn't match Mitchell's win-now urgency.

Mitchell has been increasingly plain-spoken in addressing the Raptors' shortcomings. Before the season, he made the point that his team was lacking in athleticism by NBA standards. After the losses to Detroit and Atlanta, he was critical of the play of his perimeter players.

Considering that Colangelo is on record saying that this is the best team the Raptors have had on paper, it could make for some tense conversations when it comes around to trying to figure out whether it's the captain or the ship that's going off course.

No, thanks. I prefer wait till 2010 and go with no changes than trade Bargnani when he is improving and then to have to look for another big man when JON be out.

oooh.... i don't like the idea of trading Bargnani at all. Especially now when he's showing the improvements he has made. In my eyes, he's been one of the main reasons why we are 4-2. In fact, Andrea was instrumental in two of our 4 wins.

I trust Colangelo's vision and plan however. We'll see i guess.

Just bring in Belli.
Hump would get that trade done.

I really like Harrington and wallace. But trading Bargs doesnt sit well with me either. Hes getting better, and improving by game.

I'm hesitant to give up on Bargs.. especially for a rental player like Harrington.

The thing is.... if we're going to trade Bargs you want to do it when he's playing well.... not when he's playing like crap ala VC.

We'll see how things shape up.

I don't like the idea of making a trade right now. It would be too much of a panic move when there's no need to panic. The team as it stands right now can get it done, and neither GW or Harrington would be a magic bullet.

I disagree. I think Gerald Wallace has everything the Raptors need to become title contenders. He plays fantastic defense at the three, he defends the passing lanes, he rebounds extremely well, and his main source of points comes from INSIDE THE PAINT. That said, he can also shoot the three if he's open, which is really valuable.

Kapono and a draft pick maybe? I'd be down.

To much money for Wallace, team would have to give up at least 3 pieces off a 13 man team to get him.

I however have no problem with a trade being made to strengthen the bench and bring in a stronger 3. Al and Marco would be good pieces to add. As long as Bargs stayed.

Might be good for Bargs to have another Italian use as a buffer. And visa versa.

I wouldn't trade Bargnani at all.

I would offer Kapono/Hump/Graham for Harrington/Bellineli

Jose/Soloman/Ukic
AP/Bellineli/Adams
Harrington/Moon/Graham
Bosh/Bargnani
JO/Bargnani/Jawai

Fuck Sam ... The main focus for BC should be the stability of this team no the Sam's urgency to win now in order to avoid a possible departure. BC, please hold your pants, don't get raped on trading Bargs for a bag of potatoes.

Yeah I wouldn't do this, we could've had Wallace for TJ this summer and kept Rasho and our pick. I think BC values Bargnani higher than he did TJ, so yeah, I'd say no.

Harrington is an idiot. No there too.

However if we can do a move like Hump and a 2nd for Bellinelli, I'd be up for that.

I could see trading Bargs for a good two-way SF, like Prince, for instance, but not for an overpaid Wallace or a tweener like Harrington.

Bargnani will be at least a very serviceable big man in this league for years to come, and those don't become available too often. His definite defensive improvements this season, especially his blocks, in addition to the return of his jump-shot, make him a valuable commodity and a rare one at that. He is still a work in progress, to be sure, but the progress is there to be seen by everyone and his value has definitely grown since the opening night.

I'd take Wallace for Bargs if I was BC. I don't think the salaries match up, but I'd do it.

I know I'm not the first to have said it, but Bosh and Bargs are both best at PF.

We would need to replace Bargs with a 10-15 minute per game 4 or 5 to make it work. Wallace is much better at 3 than at 4.

Even if Wallace is to take those minutes at 4, one of Kaps or Moon would have to be involved in the trade to make room. You can't have 3 SFs. Probably Kapono, since Moon's salary is too low to make a difference.

Let's check the trade machine...

I've got:
Bargs + Kapono
for
Wallace + Alexis Ajinca
or
Wallace + Jermareo Davidson

We stay under luxury tax in both scenarios. I'd do either of those trades.

But, it's a huge risk if JO gets injured. Which could also be compounded depending on what's going on with Jawai.

Check that, I'd do the Ajinca trade only if I knew for sure that Jawai was going to be able to contribute this season. Ajinca isn't NBA ready yet.

Starting Line Up:

Calderon
Parker
Wallace
Bosh
O'Neal

Bench:

Moon, Solomon, Hump, Ukic, Adams, Jawai (and maybe Davidson)

i'd trade Bargs to the wolves for love and foye, but that would be just as stupid as us trading Bargs for harrington or wallace.
