Raptors Raptors to tank

It was posted in another thread, but I personally think it's thread worthy

Shaun Powell
@Powell2daPeople
NBA people expect Raptors to trade Rudy Gay or DeRozan and go into full tank for Wiggins.
11:25 p.m Sun, Jun 30

Teams tanking: Celtics, Raptors and Sixers while Bobcats are tanking without trying.
11:30 p.m. Sun, Jun 30

Masai Ujiri is no dummy. He knows he can buy time in Toronto whereas Bryan Colangelo couldn't.
11:34 p.m. Sun, Jun 30

Shaun Powell is a featured writer for NBA.com, for those wondering if this is at all credible.

He may be a credible source, doesn't mean his opinion is credible.

If we're gonna tank, it makes sense to trade Rudy and Lowry, but keep Demar. I personally hope that we don't, though.

Still doubt we go in an all out tank job. Good thing is we don't have long to find out what we're doing. FA starts in 3hrs. lol

we won't know for sure until (and if) one of rudy/demar/lowry is traded, based on what we get back. Taking the NYK deal over the butler deal is a fairly strong indicator for tanking though since butler is way more useful than camby/nowak in the short term.

We just got Rudy. It would really be a shame to tear the team apart before we see what we have. Especially with the size of his contract, the return should be significant enough to ensure we stay out of bottom 5.

I understand wanting to move 1 of Rudy or Demar but I would rather keep Lowry. I want to see what exactly he's capable of given a full injury and pg controversy free season. Before he got hurt last season he was putting up really good numbers.

Butler was on my fantasy team last season, he was ok at times but many nights he was pretty bad. Novak fills a need. I would have taken either deal for that stiff.

if we go into proper rebuild, we have no use for lowry/demar/gay, they would just make it harder to tank. let's put it like this, if instead of those 3 we had the 40 million in cash they make, I GUARANTEE you a good GM would get at least as much value in free agency. Easily.

Raps just traded Bargs. the team was worse with him. If anything, Masai is looking to improve.

Don't think we'll tank. 2 interesting names just opted for free agency- Andrei Kirilenko and Eric Maynor- don't think we could afford Kirilenko, but Maynor sure would be interesting.

so is nowak Come on, the guy is a fantastic 3pt shooter who can't do anything else, on a team that has no good passers and nobody to attract a double team. Put him on the heat and he'll be useful, for us he's just going to bring bad memories of kapono.

I'm nearly 100% that in 6 months neither will be here.

we needed 3pt shooting off the bench and his contract is reasonable.

He's way more valuable for 3's than JL3 or AA ever were.

So will I. I pray that Ujiri can perform some miracles through trades and free agency that can make us better. I want to be legitimately excited (or at least optimistic) for next season and beyond.

Can't take anymore tanking.

If it guaranteed us Wiggins I would do it without a doubt. But knowing our chances we'll get the 6th pick and have to go even longer tanking.

1-6 are all really good next year (probably even more farther than that)

Wiggins, Parker, Randle, Harrison, Smart, Selden
