It reminds me of BC passing on Scott Machado at 56 just because he wanted a veteran PG as the 3rd stringer (eventually JLIII).

Just infuriating, what kind of competent rebuilding team prefers 30 year old 3rd string caliber scrubs who won't be here in a year to prospects with upside?

Can we just stop and imagine our team if we made 2 simple moves....... 2 year projection!

Trade Bargs, Calderon and 2nd for JSmoove

TANK!

Get wiggins

Lowry/FA
DeRozan/Ross
Wiggins/Pietrus
JSmoove/Davis
JV/Johnson

About a 100x better team in 2 years......

Are you for real?

- We probably won't trade Bargnani
- They wouldn't take that trade
- You don't just "Get wiggins"
- Smoove wouldn't re-sign here
- Lowry wouldn't re-sign here

Is Al Thornton still out there? Dude could put the ball in the basket, averaged 16 ppg in his second season... Might be a headcase though..

He's definitely an improvement over McGuire, but should have been signed before the beginning of the season. Should still chase after a better small forward in the off-season.

Forgot to mention - another euro

Then how about we pick up JSmoove on the free agency giving him max? everyone comes for the right money.....
We get to keep Bargnani and calderon
TANK TANK TANK TANK....
What we get the lowest W/L% and get a 25% at wiggins
I think lowry will re-sign here honestly, we have given him good oportunities and have treated him right.

Lowry/Calderon
DeRozan/Ross
Wiggins/Pietrus
Smith/Davis
JV/Bargs

Even better....
Its obvious that alot has to go right and a little bit of luck has got to go our way but i dont think its out of reach

BC has tried to aquire Pietrus in a trade in the past? Hmmm

Quote:
Mickael Pietrus has reached agreement on a one-year, veteran-minimum contract with the Toronto Raptors, agent Bill McCandless confirmed to RealGM on Thursday night. The deal will be made official Friday, McCandless confirmed.

"It came down, in the end, to choosing the team who liked him best," said McCandless.

USA Today first reported Pietrus’ deal with the Raptors.

In the end, Pietrus passed up five offers – from the Atlanta Hawks, Indiana Pacers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Philadelphia 76ers and San Antonio Spurs – due to the Raptors’ relentless pursuit. Recently, Pietrus rejected the Spurs’ offer of a contract guaranteeing just one month.

Pietrus’ camp has been in dialogue with the Raptors since the offseason, and Toronto general manager Bryan Colangelo has attempted to acquire the 6-foot-6 forward through trade in the past.

Dominic McGuire will be waived by the Raptors to make room on the roster, agent Mark Bartelstein told RealGM.

Pietrus, 30, has averaged 8.4 points and 3.1 rebounds in his nine-year NBA career with four different teams. Pietrus, who has been training in France for months, has established himself as a solid outside shooter and a top-tier wing defender when healthy.

so we improved from 3 equal SFs to 4. GREAT

Pietrus isn't the NBA starting material. And he won't be included in any trade, probably, if teams really wanted him they would have signed him just like Raptors did

less minutes for Ross

BC better be sure he resigns Lowry, if he's not then start tanking till 2014 from this day

He's the best SF we have now. Not by much but whatever. And he had five other teams trying to sign him.

As for Ross he hasn't played SF all season. He'll play 15 minutes behind Derozan. We got rid of one SF for another so I fail to see Ross getting less minutes.

What I would be asking myself is, if was starting like McGuire was will i will be next to go ??????lol Had to get that in i just fell out bed lol

I had to endure watching Pietrus last season (again, the wife is a big Celtics fan). I was so glad that they didn't resign him and therein I no longer had to watch him.

Of course he signs here. He's lost a lot since his Golden State days. A lot. Ross would provide us the same amount of output at the 3 even if he is playing out of position.

Am I the only one who really likes this move? he brings shooting, and defending, at the SF spot. he can also pass quite well. He's the vet experience that could have won us those 4 or so games within a few points that we lost. pietrus, FOR THIS TEAM, is better than a prospect from the d league. we have enough rooks without experience

pzabby, he barely brings shooting, he's lost on defence and he commits some real dumb fouls. I know McGuire brought no offence, but he's never been known to provide offence.

I just don't know how this position did not get addressed during the offseason.
