Douby, 6-foot-3, 175 pounds, averaged 18.0 points, 3.6 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 28.6 minutes in five games with the D-League’s Erie BayHawks this season. He scored in double figures in all five games, with a high of 23 points at Albuquerque.

Douby averaged 17.8 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 95 career games at Rutgers University. He finished his career ranked sixth in school history in scoring (1,690) and holds the school record for points scored in a single season (839 in 2005-06). He averaged 25.4 points as a junior, leading the Big East in scoring and finishing sixth nationally. He earned first-team All-Big East honours as a junior.

Douby will be available to the team Wednesday when the Raptors play host to the Milwaukee Bucks at Air Canada Centre. Game time is 7 p.m. (The Score/FAN 590).

I remember him being rail thin when he was at Rutgers. I'm thinking maybe Jose might be shut down and with Banks gone for the year, we might see a lot of this guy for the remainder of the year. We're not strangers to seeing this. One year it was Rod Strickland. Another year it was Andre Barrett and one year it was Omar Cook.
Not like we have anything to lose. If the kid plays well, he parlays it into a contract for next season.

I remember guys on the board saying the same stupid shit about Mensah-Bonsu when he was signed. Give the guy a chance.

Banks is done for the season, so I guess BC wanted to fill a roster spot and give the cat a shot.

another bc diamond in the rough obv, right up there with jake, adams and soloman. but when you roll the dice so often you are bound to get a few decent players and look like a genius sometimes. too bad this isnt how real contenders operate

no, this is how bad teams in the lottery operate when they plan to shut down guys that have been on and off injured all year.

im feeling that idea trane, but we have been grabbing no name scrubs since the offseason and having expectations while doing it, hell, i remember after Jakes 1st game and he hit a couple guys, ppl here saying "wow what a BC find, he will add grit" etc etc etc, now ppl are on Pops like he is a legit starter in the NBA.

I dont mind shutting ppl down and going into full tank mode, but my only question is.... why did BC wait so long?? Really i know you guys are sick of me saying this, but i seriously dont think he has a fucking clue and is in full panic mode, he just recently realized we wont make the playoffs, he just recently realized we need a wing. This is ridiculous.

A. Because he's a competitor. Didn't want to throw the white towel in and tried to add depth. Hell, no self respecting individual goes out and decides to tank.

B. I think the decision that to "start over"/ "tank" / "experiement" was made during the trade deadline when we dealt J.O. for essentially some cap relief. Marion I think is more of an audition to see how we play with a (formerly) legit SF and if that's the problem or if there's something greater. Right now, I think he sees how flawed this team is. I mean, we're a bunch of Message board guys and it's pretty obvious to alot of people in the league that something is definetly wrong. He sees it.

C. Wing. Jamario filled in pretty well last season and this season he fucked himself when he came to camp late and had a laissez faire attitude about it all. Last season we were beat on the glass. So we deal for J.O. who came in saying all the right shit, said how he'll bring in an attitude. Well, that move right there, completely fucked this entire season over. Nothing panned out. Since then, it's been trying to cut losses.

D. The real panic move was firing Sam. There was no reason to do it after that loss in Denver. He should've been fired at the end of last season in the Orlando debacle. But didn't. That was his biggest fault. Ever since then, we've been horriawful.

E. Right now it's all about assessing and trying to find alternatives. Guys like Douby could pan out, might now. It doesn't hurt. PG has been a big weakness for us. If he pans out, can be a legit 3rd string guy and signed on the cheap, he's great to have. If not, we move on. Jake was brought in, again for depth because J.O. was injured and Pops likely has parlayed his play into a short term contract with us or someone else.

getting a cheap scrub to fill out the roster as the season winds down is so common it's almost not news at all. we have no money to sign guaranteed contracts, so we need to rely on 10-days. sign those 10-days too early and you don't have them for the end of the year. what's the big surprise here? as for bc having no clue, i find that pretty hard to believe. a top-level exec and his staff, working all day every day on this, are totally unable to see what a guy on a message board sees? perhaps there are other concerns that you just don't have a clue about... perhaps. anyways, you will always find a reason to rip bc, so what's the point of us discussing this? but i will anyways...

jake helped fill in the bigs rotation so we could deal jermaine. hump would have been in this role but he's been injured all year. we have no extra $ and the team sucked anyways, so good signing, imo.

pops got signed to fill a need as we had big guys dropping like flies, he was available all of a sudden, and he has been a solid contributor. this was a good find on the cheap by bc. hopefully we aren't the ones to overpay his this summer. i don't see any negatives on this one.

o'bryant - meh, who cares. cheap, expendable, useful in garbage time and when we want to shut Bosh or Bargs down.

i don't see how any of these could possibly be seen as panic moves. shutting down some of our players, or at least playing them far less minutes, is definitely the right thing to do. i'm pretty sure he had banks slotted into this pg spot, but he got injured. what are you gonna do? next step, sign another dude on the cheap. no surprise. why spend money now when the team needs an overhaul this summer? we all knew this might happen, which was why the jo trade was a gamble last year, but this off-season we have flexibility. so let's let this season ride out with cheap guys. where is the surprise in any of this? where is the panic? there isn't any. the gamble didn't work, and this was the backup plan all along. will it work? who knows. maybe bc is a jackass, and if so, flame on all you want come next season. in the mean time, i don't see why we throw around things like 'no clue' and 'panic' after a late season 10-day contract. why not just wait and see what he does this summer?

I too don't see how this is a panic move. Panic moves usually would be something of significance. Something where there is an expected outcome. This is just a transaction to get the team through the season. I don't think anyone is expecting anything out of this. Maybe Douby plays well? maybe not.... either way i don't see anything wrong with this pickup. It's a nothing move.
