Free agent forward Dominic McGuire has reached agreement on a deal with the Toronto Raptors, league sources told Yahoo! Sports on Sunday.

McGuire, who played 64 of 66 games for Golden State a season ago, is still working out the details on a one- or two-year deal, sources said, but has committed to play for Toronto. He was scheduled to participate in a workout with the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday with free agent Josh Childress, but cancelled after agreeing to play for Toronto this season.

After getting picked in the second round of the 2008 draft by the Washington Wizards, McGuire, 26, played two-plus seasons there, before stops in Sacramento, Charlotte and Golden State. McGuire is a long, athletic and versatile defender at 6-foot-9, averaging 2.8 points and 3.5 rebounds for his career.

this would be our first legitimate defensive stopper since forever
I bet he will help us win at least 2 games this season with timely stops in crunchtime, and maybe demar and ross will learn something from him in the process.

So now the Raps have 16 players with at least partial money guaranteed for this coming season - trade?

If so, Amir or Ed is the odd man out, unless Magloire gets scratched in camp. Could see a Jose + PF move after all.

Raptors Have 16 Players Under Contract With At Least Some 12-13 Guaranteed Money

The Toronto Raptors have 16 players under contract for the 12-13 NBA season with at least partially guaranteed money following their signing of Dominic McGuire.

The Raptors also recently signed Jamaal Magloire to a partially guaranteed contract.

The Raptors will need to trim their regular season roster to 15.

good pick and i like this move...may give us 2 wins in crunch time

i always expecting a trade which would bring us a SF/SG who can create his own shots in second unit?

may be ED+Alan Anderson=SG/SF

We'd then have 4 SF's, 5 if you count Anderson who is more of a SF than a SG.

I'd count Anderson but then I see LF more of a SG than a SF so it all comes out in the wash

True, then again we'd still have too many wings that need time and not enough minutes to go around.

Derozan/Fields/Ross
Chandler/Kleiza/Anderson

Not bad at all though, my only concern there would be the lack of minutes available for Ross. Maybe we can throw Kleiza in the mix and get Miller as our back up PG position.

Our wing rotation then looks like this:

Derozan/Ross/Fields
Chandler/Fields/Anderson

That would be nice. Still need that SF IMO.

Miller would be nice, doubt Denver would want Kleiza back - or vice versa.

Kleiza was good in Denver. They could have Kleiza at almost half the price of Chandler and he could backup Galinari.

Well, I look at it this way, Chandler signed in Denver knowing he'd be a back-up to Gali instead of a starter here - unless Galli is going to move to the 4.

McGee/Koufos/Mozgov
Galli/Faried/Randolph
Chandler/Hamilton/Miller
AI/Brewer/Fournier
Lawson/Miller/Stone

Honestly...can't see why Denver would part with Miller. That's a nice 15 man roster - 2 and some 3 man deep in each position. Lots of match-up nightmares they can create. Can't see them making any changes at the moment.

is that a joke? they'd get eaten alive on the inside. Chandler will be off the bench.
