Raptors should bid for Ben Wallace?

we should sign Ben Wallace. he is free agent now! our defence can be better with him.

Ben Wallace
Chris Bosh
Hedo Turkoglu
Demar Derozan
Jose Calderon

is it good starting lineup?

Ummm, what happened to Bargnani? Are we allowed to play 6 on at a time.

Its not the best starting lineup with Big Ben in the middle. He used to be a force, but injuries and age have caught up with him. Don't be surprised if he retires this summer.

Ben Wallace is washed up.
his career is pretty much over as a starter in this league, and his contract is horrible.

Bargnani is good player,he can be in starting 5 but we should sign Ben Wallace anyway cause we need defensive power at playoffs and he has great ability for defence.Especially,we need Big Ben when we play against Orlando and Cleveland..you know; Shaq and Howard.

I mean,he can be in bench too, just sign Big Ben to squad.:thumb:

Raptors should bid for Ben Wallace

I'm not sure if you all know this but yesterday Big Ben received a big buyout. He's on the market. Regardless of whether he would or would not consider Toronto a destination I feel they should make him an offer. They would only be good for the bi-annual at this point but still, they should make the offer. There are two reasons that come to mind. The first reason is to continue to elevate the image of the Raptors doing everything possible to become a contender. They need to keep showing Bosh they're in it to win it. The 2nd reason is if by chance he does like Toronto and would consider coming here then can you imagine the defense and rebounding in that second unit? With him in there right now the second unit would look something like Wallace, Evans, DeRozan, Wright and Jack. That's pretty damn good if you ask me.

Vet minimum. Thats all.

We're talking 40k

fancylad 07-15-2009 11:19 AM

well he definately would offer something 'new' in terms of a center.

Still i think there's too many things factoring in here that wouldn't allow it to happen IMO.

yattara 07-15-2009 11:30 AM

yes thats what im talking about..we need Ben Wallace, specially at playoffs against Orlando and Cleveland..i dont know about price but it would be great to see Big Ben with Raptors jersey :thumb:

merged these two conversations guys. might as well chat about this in one place instead of two.

Superjudge 07-15-2009 11:36 AM

I thought Ben Wallace was dead.... I'd rather have Marcellus Wallace.

Bargs needs to start at C.

tommysdu 07-15-2009 11:42 AM

pls get ben ben

Acie 07-15-2009 11:43 AM

Why would we get him?

He's all but done.

EazyBalla 07-15-2009 11:44 AM

Ben Wallace is too slow to guard Howard and too undersized to guard Shaq. I would still try to sign him, but he would ruin our team free throw %.

I think they still have the Bi-annual. That's $2M.

Would that not mean no Rasho?

At this point I'd prefer Rasho over Big Ben. They're a wash on defense and Rasho isn't a liability on offense, let alone a major one.

Yeah but there's no guarentee that Rasho signs on for $2M. I would have figured it would be done by now if it were going to be easy.

Nesterovic > Ben Wallace.

Better attitude. Better fit for the Raptors locker room. Smarter player. More experienced. Won't hinder us nearly as much offensively while on the court.

Plus he's Slovenian so that gets a +1.

Apollo 07-15-2009 12:03 PM

I think its a toss up. Wallace is only going to provide rebounding and defense...In those two categories he's better than Rasho hands down. Beyond that all he offers is leadership, toughness and scrappieness. He was a strong leader for the Pistons. Rasho is clearly the better player and he's friends will many of the current Raptors. I like both.

Evans and Wallace teaming up would be a nightmare to opposing bench offenses. Not to mention DeRozan and Jack would get a millions shots.

Acie 07-15-2009 12:10 PM

Evans and Wallace would be perhaps the most offensively inept frontcourt in the history of Western Civilization.
