Why would they need to score? Don't the Raptors already have more than enough scoring big men? Defensive/rebounding specialists seem to be something this team has had very few of in its history.

I like both.

Evans and Wallace teaming up would be a nightmare to opposing bench offenses. Not to mention DeRozan and Jack would get a millions shots.
A nightmare to opposing bench offenses but a wet dream for opposing bench defenses.

Wallace is a shadow of his former self, Rasho has been plugging along since day one. I'd agree that Ben is the better rebounder, but the difference is marginal IMO. Rasho isn't the shot blocker that Ben is, but he's probably a smarter defender on the whole.

If we can get him and Rasho, I think I would splurge in my panties... umm... boxers.

However, with only the bi-annual and the vet's minimum, I doubt we can get them both, in which case I'd still rather have Rasho.

Having two such huge offensive liabilties on the floor at the same time would allow other teams to key on our guys that can score.

Wasn't Wallace talking retirement after the playoffs - saying his heart wasn't in the game anymore?
The last thing this team needs is another player here to just collect a paycheck.

I'd rather spend the vets minimum on rasho. Ben is washed up he isn't athletic anymore and thats why his career is done. He should just retire and rest at home with all the money he made in the past few seasons

I would get him if he's willing to come here for dirt cheap, the man is an expert on shot blocking and an intelligent rebounder (something we sorta lost when Marion left) but if he's asking for a lot then fuck it.

Its not the best starting lineup with Big Ben in the middle. He used to be a force, but injuries and age have caught up with him. Don't be surprised if he retires this summer.
lol you can play six if your portland

we've got a Ben wallace on this team already in Evans...
Evans will provide rebounding and paint clogging, and even that tough as nails mentality that we're sorely missing.
we dont need Wallace, especially if we are going after Rasho.
and even if Ben was available, i'd pass. the guy is finished IMO. why do you think cleveland was so quick to dump him and (if what Acie is saying is true) he's been bought-out?
its because he's all but done... he's more of a liability than anything else.

thanks for the idea ...
I am impressed that you put some thought into it,
however ...
I am overjoyed that it is not the Raptors plan going forward.

If Evans and Wallace were on the court at the same time, the other team woud double or triple off them every time because they of very limited offensively ... as in less than 5 ppg each.

2 years ago with Wallace starting, Lebron was doubled on almost every offensive set.
They tried to get better ball handlers and shooters (MO Williams) to force some honesty from the opposing defences.
It failed.
He is blackhole on the offensive side of the ball.

4 yrs ago, with the Pistons system, he was a novelty ... that was also his last good go round, he was crap in Chitown, and crappier in Lebronville.

Did you watch the playoffs this year? If I remember correctly, Orlando beat Wallace's Cavs. I barely remember seeing Ben on the floor trying to guard Dwight which tells me he's incapable.

If this was 2004, I'd agree with you.

I'm relieved it's about tits because I was getting worried that this question generated so many replies when a simple no would do.

This is more like talking a jumper off the ledge before he convinces others to join the flying group hug.
