Raptors' Roster

With TJ, Rasho & Baston gone in a O'Neal trade and with Garbo released and with Delfino & AP most likely going to Europe who is left and what does Raptors' roster looks like.

Well, they are stacked up in front, have few players in the middle and only Jose in the backcourt... with little or no money to spend BC will have to get creative to fill all spots... Boston did it last year... so, it's not imposible.

1. Jose
2. Kapono
3. Moon
4. Bargnani
5. Humpries
6. Bosh
7. Jawai
8. O'Neal

Not sure what is happening with Graham & Brezec and if BC is bringing Roko Ukic here but this is the roster as of now.

Maybe $7M away from the luxury tax threshold, I don't, but I do know that they're certainly over the cap. They're at $56M without Jose's new deal. The cap last year was around $55M so you can take that for what its worth.

Raptors salary figure

I think they have no choice but to get Roko over here right now. They can pick up a nice 2/3 guard in free agency this off-season. My mind keeps on thinking about JR Smith as the wing offering the most impact and upside. The kid has the talent to be a star and judging by this season he's finally starting to act like an adult. Denver doesn't want to be paying luxury tax and there is a chance that if Colangelo had the balls to offer JR $5M/yr they wouldn't match it. I know that sounds like a lot but the kid is a lot better than Kapono and he got close to $6M per year.

Parker likely isn't leaving and I can't see "Gangsta" coming back. I'll be extremely surprised if the "Australian Shaq" cracks the roster next fall too. BC's still has alot of work ahead of him this summer. We need to add another servicable swingman preferable one that decent on both ends of the floor and a back up for Jose incase Roko isn't coming over. Those are now our biggest concerns that have to be addressed.

Let see what BC can come up with now.

Especially now that it was reported that The Raps and Cats had a deal in place that would essentially swap Ford for Gerald Wallace straight up (no draft choices involved), but BC got greedy and asked for a 2nd round pick to which Charlotte balked.

I think Jawai will be here in Toronto. I'm thinking they send him to D-league like they did with Pape Sow.

I'm not buying that rumor. It doesn't make sense.

Jawai has been on Toronto's radar for months. Director of player personnel Jim Kelly scouted him in the Australian league last season. But it's likely the Raptors will leave the 21-year-old to play in Europe or Australia for at least a year or two.

Oh, so that's why they took DJ Augustin at #9. Right.

According to the paper...

Quote:
Yes, there was a Gerald Wallace deal in play that never materialized because the Bobcats wouldn’t throw in another draft pick.
Also:

My best guess: They do Roko Ukic, another point guard (I know there’s been some sniffing around Jason Hart) and then a young swingman in the Moon mode. If there’s money left, then they’ll go look for another big.

They've got about 7-8 million to spend!

Well if people weren't up for Marion they shouldn't be up for Wallace. He plays in a similar fashion to Moon and he's not a slasher and he doesn't have a post game.

ESPN has already changed the roster even though it's not "official" but what's strange is that they still have Hibbert with us.

Wallace is 4 years younger, plays just as good D and is signed long term, plsu makes about at least 3-4 million less.

wallace is overrated, not worth his contract, injured, and thinks he can score.

i'm glad we didn't trade for him. people get excited over the kirilenko's, josh smith's, and wallace's of the league because they put up stats while their on-court presence accounts for nothing close to what their stats indicate.

raps have 9 players saying that Delfino, Brezec dont come back and Hibbert and Baston go to indy. That means the raps will have to get at the least 3 more players and at the most 6 more players

wallace had 4 concussions in his career. If you think O'Neal or Ford have injury risks, Wallace is almost a dead man walking compared to them.
