Question Raptors Republic: What if Jamario Moon was Re-signed?

With some rumblings that BC is considering bringing back Moon, "Raps Fan" from Raptors Republic did his "3pt shot" column and asks these three questions:

2) Do you think he would be capable of being the starting SG while DeRozan get’s accustomed to the NBA grind?

3) Can we really deal with his gun-slinging for another 2+ years?
This was my response:

3) His ability to play tenacious defense at times and energy off the bench I could tolerate and live with for 2 years, but not his “offensive prowess”. *sarcastically said*

just put him in a bench role, as in bench warming role, don't put him in a starting role where he has the chance to put up shots and then when he bricks them we all start complaining about him shooting

Again, we have to teach him how to utilize that athletic ability if we want to make him useful again, The reason why he did jumpers alot because he was in pain.

But whatever, if we get him cheap and use him well like in the 07/08 season. yay.

Then Trade Turkoglu for TJ Ford and the rest of the original guys from the 06/07 season.

meh before the magic Hedo S&T I wouldn't have minded Moon, but with Antoine Wright and Demar Derozan here he'd be redundant

Any wing they sign beyond Delfino means the BAE is gone which means no Rasho.

I would take Moon back. He would come cheap and off the bench. He's well liked and a team guy. Would be playing the 3, won't get much burn but should be able to chip in a few minutes.

Rumblings, since when? From where exactly?

Anyway, after such a great offseason bringing that schmuck back would end it on such a bad note it's awful to even think of. I think i'd rather bring back Joey.

I seriously don't get why people hate on Moon so much. He's a very, very solid defender and a great defensive rebounder. He did things defensively that no one else on our team could do, the entire time he was here.

Sure, he launched some bad shots. Sure, he didn't drive much, but these things didn't hurt the team nearly as much as you would think reading these responses now and reading what Raptors fans said during the first half of last season. His 3pt% was right at the league average, as Kelly Dwyer pointed out today.

So we had a guy who was willing to guard the athletic 3's (and some of the quicker 1's), rebound the ball, and finish on the break. He was making the minimum. He was a great story and a fan favourite when he first earned the starting role, then everybody turned on him. Why, everyone? Of course he had flaws, flaws which made him a below average player in the halfcourt, but these don't cancel out the positives he brought to the table for us. I'd be very happy if we brought him in as a backup, but I think some other team with more money to spend will get him.

Well, he's lazy, stupid and frustrating to watch. And much like Kapono, the one thing he's best at he simply doesn't do.

+ = Jamario Moon

Vittorio's a glass half full kinda guy ain't he?

Moon is long and athletic. Moon is also soft and incredibly dumb. He constantly got lost on D and was giving up open looks like crazy. Which is exactly what he drove his coaches and the fans.

It's not that I have anything against Moon on a personal level, he certainly has his abilities and could benefit a team. Though, not our team considering what we currently have at his position and the likelihood of Delfino returning to the squad. If we're going to focus on his defensive abilities, then Delfino is as serviceable if not more. Not to mention that he is better offensively and played some point with Argentina a few years back. I hope Moon finds a spot in the NBA where he can be used effectively, though it won't be with us.
