Raptors Republic: Devlin Too Thinks We Need Another Wing

Arsenalist from RR had a chance to interview Matt yesterday where Devlin also thought that the Raptors really do need another wing player that can create his own shot. :face4:

Very friendly man, hopefully we can have him on again so I can grill him a little harder. In this interview he openly talks openly about the need for another wing player that can create his own shot, Jose Calderonís emergence, OíNeal expectations, key plays tonight including Will Solomonís mistakes and other things. This audio here is actually of good quality.

I don't disagree that we need a 'take it to the hole' wing player but really i think we're more in desparate need for players that are fearless and hungry for the ball. Look at guys like Stuckey, Bynum and Maxiell...they aren't superstars(although Stuckey could become one), but they are fearless going after the ball, and hungry for it. Our guys are too passive, have been for years. We give up so many rebounds because we just sit there and watch the shot...while those guys go for the ball.

If i had to pick between a wing that could get to the free throw line to score easy buckets and a tough-nosed wing that just went after the ball everywhere on the court i'd take the latter everytime.

yawn, pretty common knowledge since Vince left town...

Btw, doesnt Stuckey look like 50 cent?

We need a guy who has AP's professionalism, Moon athletic ability and Joey's body.

That's not enough! Joey's athleticism is fine, so take Moon completely out of the equation and put JYD's attitude/fire/passion/guts...whatever you want to call it... that hunger to beat the other guy to the ball.

Our problem is we have too many guys that are either smart, or professional, or good shooters or athletic...but none of them save CB4 have that hunger that JYD had to beat his man on every play whether it's for a loose ball, rebound..whatever.

We saw guys like Stuckey, Bynum and Maxiell burn us last night in the 2nd quarter because they have that quality and our guys don't...even though we might have more skill then those guys...arguable.

Yeah, strike up the band! Devlin states the obvious and what everyone else has know and said for months if not years.:golfclap:

Just don't have the assets right now

I'd actually be much more inclined to do a trade like Kapono for Evans and Donyell from Philly. I'd love Evans' hustle and heart on this team, and last night's game proved that anytime JO or Bosh get in foul trouble let alone injured, we'll have issues.

Next time you meet Devlin ask him why he's always hitting the colour commentators. Maybe he wasn't hugged enough as a child.
