Raptors plane stopped on the runway, forced to stay in Memphis

Scary!

wow what the fuck happened? thank god they didn't take off.

Dark Knight 03-17-2012 01:29 PM

What would happen if, hypothetically (*knock on wood) our team had died on that flight? Does the NBA gives us more players?

Talk about rebuilding. :reporter:

Why even bring up that hypothetical situation...

:sigh:

Happened in old USSR to a soccer club and in Russia, recently, to a hockey team. In both cases, an "entry" draft was held, although the rules are obviously quite different from NA.

+1 not DK's finest moment, but the kid can't always ride high!

Sorry boys, still pretty early. My mind still needs to warm up!

Takes a big man to recognize his mistake.... if I ever make one, I hope to be like DK here!

actually it is an interesting question.

Maybe then we could get some real players (kidding!!!)

but seriously it's an interesting question.

fancylad 03-17-2012 01:57 PM

Oh by the way in that hypothetical situation, would it be too much to have Brian Burke on that plane too?

Happen in 1970 to Marshall University football program. College is way different then the pro so hard to compare the two. Marshall was allowed to have a freshman team play varsity football that year(back then freshman were not allowed to play on varsity team).

It's a good question...

Torontosaurus 03-17-2012 02:12 PM

I'm guessing they would take players from other teams like when they add expansion teams

js12 03-17-2012 02:17 PM

Either that, or they are going to take Toronto out of the NBA.

That's what I was thinking. In a situation like that I don't think the Raptors would ever fully recover, and if they did, it would be many years into the future.

I wonder about it too, dk. You're not alone.

George Costanza plane crash comment.avi - YouTube

Who's the Chuck? It's a question, but it's not a good question when you're discussing an actual team or and actual person.... it's just poor form.

Acie 03-17-2012 02:41 PM

As someone who is very leery of flying, I've often wondered the same thing too.

Perfectly valid question.

DSWC 03-17-2012 02:44 PM

Glad to hear that they stopped the plane, and played it safely.

Good to hear that everyone's ok and we don't have to deal with hypotheticals, too.
