Raptors not getting the TPE?

WTF? I thought that it was automatic when doing a S&T. Is that why it wasn't mentioned?

Quote:
The Raptors will get two first round picks (one of them their own) in return for a sign-and-trade for Chris Bosh. Toronto will receive Miami's 2011 first round pick.

A sign-and-trade will also be completed for LeBron James with Cleveland as well. The Cavaliers will receive a trade exception worth $16 million and two future first round picks and a second rounder, according to Windhorst.

Miami is trying to find a way to keep Udonis Haslem.

All three will get six-year contracts from the Heat, though they won't get max money.

I thought so as well, but they only mention it for the Cavs. Scared the shit out of me.

So essentially:

-2011 Miami pick
-Our pick back
-16Mil TPE

Good deal BC

The TPE only lasts for one year, so they cant really afford to wait too long to act. If I'm BC, and I can get a young prospect like Collison with the TPE, I would pull the trigger without hesitation. Clearly that would be one of the better scenarios though.

good deal? i think you're putting a little too much hope into the TPE. if we even use it, it'll be for someone else's horrible contact. no one will give us good talent on a good contract for it.

it's sad that it took Bosh to rectify use giving away our first rounder in the marion-o'neal trade.

I was also scared when it wasn't mentioned.
Good to hear that it's automatic.

Either you do it now (w/all of the TPE or partially) or you wait to see where you're at in Jan-Feb. I believe you turn every rock this summer to get something done and if you can get a stud PG get it done and get this team gelling by the end of October.

So now Toronto, Cleveland, Utah, and Phoenix all have large TPE. Is it really that valuable?

Partly why BC better get on a deal pronto or will likely hold onto it until trade deadline or next summer.

should use the tpe on a hugh expiring no use player, that way next year we'll have load of cap space and can sign carmelo. just have to find a way to drug him first before handing him the contract

there's no gain with an expiring contract since there's no salary there to begin with

the biggest thing is geting our pick back, you cant predict whats going to happen in the future, I don't want to be like the New York Knicks and lose a lottery pick if that happens to be our position at the time

It was lottery protected anyway, so unless we make the playoffs *knocks on wood* we would still get the pick.
