Default Raptors MUST target some big men this summer

there are a lot of good big men that will be free agents or trading block this summer

-Kevin Love
-Zach Randolph
-Greg Monroe
-Pau Gasol
-Marcin Gortat
-Jordan Hill
-Ed Davis

just to name a few. I have faith Ujiri will pickup one of these decent big men.

Most of those are likely out of the question imo. I still think that he won't do too much this summer, a draft pick or two + a couple vets off the bench and that's it. I think 2015 is the summer we start making bigger moves.

Ed Davis is almost pointless on this team unless we can't re-sign PP. Z-Bo would be awesome, same with David West. lol

While I agree with the 2015 summer idea, MU needs to be extremely careful with skipping this summer. With the influx of drafted talented and big name trades happening, we might find ourselves out of a playoff seed in the worst case scenario which will influence the impending free agency etc.

My point if a big name becomes available, MU can't shy away from potentially being involved before it maybe too late

Ed can take hansbrough's place. God knows Amir's ankles aren't reliable. We need 4 servicable bigs.

Amir/JV

PP/ED

no?

I think ED will demand a higher price tag than TH even though he hasn't been given enough playing time. Not to mention he is a RFA

I think if we are not able to resign PP go for ED, otherwise I don't see the point

How about instead of signing/pursuing all these small PF's (Acy, Evans, Hayes, Amir - Millsapp, Z Randolph) we add some REAL big men to this roster for once??

Guys like Monroe and Gortat are going to be looking for way to much money. We need a C on a decent 2yr contract that is probably looking for no more than 3mil per yr.

Some decent C's to get would be:

Chris Anderson
Jermaine O'Neal - (He either stays in GSW or will retire. Very low chance of getting him)
Spencer Hawes - (Personally think he will be looking for a longer contract with more $$$)
Greg Oden
Drew Gooden
Chris Kaman
Nazr Mohammed
Aron Baynes
Jason Collins

C's coming off of surgery that would be ok signings would be:

Emeka Okafor
Greg Stiemsma
Kwame Brown

The five I'd want in order would be:

Anderson
Oden
Gooden
Kaman
Mohammed

Really hoping for a 1 year contract for a big backup C. I think this gets addressed by trading one of Hansbrough or Salmons for an expiring overpaid C. Such as Anthony or Mozgov.

It's starting to look like the coaching carousel - ol' retreads. Is there not more options - younger with some upside that can grow with the team - that can be had from the D-League or overseas?

Just seems the postings are focused on just NBA players and I think there are better options out there.

Yeah, I don't see Ed Davis making more than that.

I agree. He wasn't doing much in MEM since he was traded.

Won't it depend on how much value MEM has in him and his RFA status, if you throw an offer of 3 mill, I can see them matching regardless of recent minute allocation

Yeah, that's the thing. With them suppressing his minutes, I doubt he gets an offer on the open market that they don't match. Young bigs on deals <5M are easy to move if you decide to later.
