Raptors are looking to move Bargnani ? D'Antoni to Toronto ?

Quote:

D'Antoni, who worked under Colangelo in Phoenix, might be out of a job if Walsh leaves the Knicks at season's end. For now, the Raptors plan to bring back coach Jay Triano, despite their awful season. But if D'Antoni becomes available, Triano could be jettisoned. Whether it's D'Antoni or Triano, the Raptors want to build around rookie big-man Ed Davis and second-year guard DeMar DeRozan. [b]They're said to be open to moving Andrea Bargnani, who has been anything but an impact player since entering the league in 2007 (2006 is exact) as the No. 1 overall pick. ...

If we can get anything decent for Bargnani it'd be worth it. This team needs a major re structuring and it starts from the top. We cant movei n to the future with him as our best player. The only way he should stay on the team is if we have a Bulls type of overhaul where we get a great defensive coach mixed with some really good defensive players surrounding Bargs like with Boozer so he's not hurting us every game. But at least Boozer rebounds, so even then I dont want to keep Bargs.

And I definately dont want DAntoni. Why cant we just have a traditional team without the gimmicks? I want to see some defence for once(and WINNING would be nice too), that isnt too much to ask after all these terrible years.

Dantoni cant adapt to the players/team he has. If he doesnt have perimeter players that play quick, he cant adapt and change the style around the players he has to create a winning environment as shown now with NY. And just in general I'd hate the style his teams play if I was a fan. It's hard just watching guys letting guys score so they can run the other way and jack up stupid 3s. Obviously thats already happening, but like I said, a change in culture is needed and that starts with changing the personnel to become a solid NBA basketball team, not some soft gimmick offensive team with no toughness or defence or coach or GM every year.

Interesting, whom the raptors could get next season for Bargnani ?

jrob23 03-27-2011 09:33 AM

very interesting to see what kind of return we could get for Il Mago

i bet some GMs are in love with his versatility on offence and believe that the right head coach could get him to hustle, which im sure is true

who the hell wants a 7 footer who cant rebound or play defence? can we trade with d-league teams?

please no D'Antoni. That would make no sense. They might as well keep Andrea if they are going to get the moustache.

Also - Boozer is just much easier to hide than Andrea. As weak as he might be, particularly with man defense, he is able to fit within a defensive system. We've yet to see that with Andrea unless the matchups are just right and he's really got his head on straight. I could see a team that included Andrea winning enough games off the lesser teams to get an 8th seed easily enough, but that would pretty much be the ceiling unless Bargnani suddenly becomes a consistent performer and a D'Antoni-type offense really took off somehow. That would be lightning in a bottle, and would still have it's own limitations in the long run.

I don't know if I believe what "It is said" about Bargnani, but to be blunt, d'Antoni is Italian, so it would give him a leg up.

Don't get me wrong, I don't have a specific problem with that, but Colangelo, Gherhardini, Iavaroni, Triano, Bargnani, Bellinelli, have been run thru here... eh, why not add D'Antoni? Can we get Gallinari? I think that would be everyone.

haaaa!

And no, i'm not racist, except against Canadians.....those decadent coffee drinking bastards...but I didn't even know there were that many Italians in the league. It could just be a coincidence, no?

We need to mix it up more. It's a big world out there. show your passport at the door. Any Aussies? Chinese?

Get a defensive minded coach, not D'Antoni.

Well, a lot better then a d leaguer as you suggested. The fact is any team that gets him will likely put him at PF and get him to spread the floor with a more dominant center and deal with his 6rpg. If you think they can't get much for him........wow is right. Not saying an all star, but we can get better then what you're suggesting.

his scoring numbers are greatly inflated because of the fact he plays for a losing team. and 6rpg its a miracle if he even gets that anymore... the best the raps can get is a role player for him

Carlito 03-27-2011 11:58 AM

No way we trade Bargs unless we get something significant.
1st rounder or at least a solid starter.
Bargs in the right system is fair value to the dollar ...

Trust me, in the nba there are GM's that would want him and think they're system/coaching could use someone like him. In the NBA I've seen lesser players net decent talent. Even if it's middle of the road talent maybe it's a player that fits with what we need. And if BC trades Bargnani it would have to be for decent talent, otherwise it won't come close to happening. First place I'd look if I were him is Atlanta. That team is in freefall.

Bargs alongside D12 would be lethal!!!!

Hire Charlie Sheen, the dude is a WINNER!!!

finstock 03-27-2011 12:36 PM

The Raps next GM: Whoever wrote this article.

pzabby 03-27-2011 12:50 PM

im loving the first part of this article. but wouldnt moving bargnani and getting dantoni be redundant. youre getting rid of a bad defensive player and bringing in a horrid defensive coach. in a race sense, youre getting rid of an italian and replacing him with another lol
