Raptors looking to land big name SF?

Not sure if this was posted since it's a couple days old......

The Toronto Raptors are on a five game winning streak, but that doesn’t mean the trade rumours are going to go away anytime soon. According to various sources, the Raptors are looking to package both Jose Calderon and Andrea Bargnani in order to land a big name small forward.

Could Danny Granger be that big name small forward that vaults the Raptors into the playoffs?

Ric Bucher of 95.7 The Game revealed that the Pacers would like to move the former All-Star, but only if Paul George can take his game to the next level and be their go-to guy. George has recently won Eastern Conference Player of the Week and has looked more comfortable playing small forward, the position that Granger held down throughout most of this career in Indiana.

Bucher also mentioned that the Raptors are one of the more active teams in the league and are looking to get a deal done.

Though he’s out now injured, the Raptors supposedly would like to put Kyle Lowry in a trade package and keep Jose Calderon. The Raptors give up 11 more points per game when Lowry is on the court compared with Calderon. NBA.com
sick!

I doubt that's the case, but maybe teams would rather have Lowry. Hell we've been trying to trade Calderon for 2yrs now and haven't been able to. And not many teams would want a 10Mil rental for a big named player.

carp 12-26-2012 08:54 PM

I can see them dealing Kyle... he might get a bigger name back and Jose has proven to be a better leader and facilitator... he makes the others better!!!

I'd be wary of Granger

ZanTheMan 12-26-2012 08:54 PM

I also read Jose was a nominee for Eastern Conf. Player of the Week.
That was big, seeing his name mentioned with all those bigtime players. :yeah:
His value's probably never been higher.

I honestly don't care, as long as we can land a big name SF and get rid of Bargnani i think i'd take it to be honest. Lowry is the better player and long term would be great to have here but if that's what it takes to land a big name so be it. But that "big name" better not be Granger.

Aamir 12-26-2012 08:57 PM

If we're trading for Granger we better not give away Lowry. Lowry and Bargnani can net us something real good I would think. When they're healthy and in the zone, they can play like all-stars.

This.

Boy oh boy... if Lowry pissed people with his "selfishness" then I can't wait to hear what they say about Granger lol.

Yep - I have no problem with trading Lowry, but we'd have to get something better than Granger back.

hoodz 12-26-2012 09:03 PM

no way we trade lowry for granger

agreed.

Lowry isn't getting dealt,it would be silly for Colangelo to trade him after a handful of games when he's given an underachieving Bargnani almost a decade to amount to something.

Granger would be okay,he's a risk, high reward acquisition at this point but he improves the team.

While I'm not sold on Granger making us much better ... If in the summer we could of got Granger for a conditional first rounder .. Everyone would of jumped for joy.

So indicating Lowry has more value than Granger is a stretch

Guys. Rumours, all. Don't get to caught up in this crap, it's only just media BS.

True, but it's no secret that the Raptors need help at the Small Forward position. Whether or not they're targeting Granger is another conversation.

KoolAid 12-26-2012 09:27 PM

I'll believe it when I see it.

Kyle's had the same decade Bargnani has... good try though. He's lost another starting spot!

Dark Knight 12-26-2012 09:31 PM

Lowry and Granger on the same team would equal a shit ton of shots.

But if those shots go in, I don't really care.
