one big problem is that he is hesitant to sign long term and I seriously doubt he will change that stance if he gets traded here. get a commitment before doing the trade

I could see us dealing for him if a third team gets involved and sends Boston a pick. This way we would only have to send them one of our picks. Either way, i don't expect Rondo getting traded anywhere before the deadline but maybe talks get heated up again in the summer.

I assume any trade would be contingent on him opening extension talks.

I wouldn't extend a player coming off a major knee injury. Especially since he'll likely be looking for 12+Mil/yr

His game isn't dependent on athleticism. He'll age better than a comparable player; if he signs with a team for four-ish years, he'll only be 31 and that team will have him though his prime.

Mehh, still don't trust his knee holds up. Wouldn't want us giving this guy a 4yr/50mil contract and he blows his knee out in a year. It would set us back years.

Neither team is trading from a position of desperation. I can't see Masai overpaying or Ainge lowering that high price.

Da fuq ? The asking price for Rondo is a pick and a young player which is what we are asking for Lowry. How is this supposed to work? So...we are giving up a player that is the best PG in the east this year, and we have his bird rights, that may want to stay here.... for a guy that is a UFA next year, that is just coming off major surgery, thats exactly the same age... and that would never sign here? And people want to GIVE the Celtics a pick plus Lowry in this deal? To Ainge when he's not desperate? A team in our division? Ummm... ok.

If this has any truth at all it died as soon as we found out Ainge's price.

Nothing against any of those guys. Rondo's just a personal fave. Has been for a long time. I missed getting a Marion jersey.... couldn't pass up a Rondo one.

If we could snag
TOR- Rondo, Young
BOS- TOR 1st 14, NYK 1st 16, Fields
PHI- OKC 2nd 2014, Hansbrough, 2017 TOR 1st

Then trade Lowry, Vasquez for Teague and atlantas 1st

Draft a SF
Sign a SG in Sefolosha

Or draft a SG
And sign a SF in Ariza

Rondo/Teague
Derozan/Sefolosha
Ross/1st
Young/Patterson
Valanciunas/Johnson

Or

Rondo/Teague
Derozan/1st
Ross/Ariza
Young/Patterson
Valanciunas/Johnson

Not only do the $ not match, nor does anyone else make this trade, we just took on 22 mil in salary so have no cap space for Sefalosha not to mention we can't draft a SF with a pick if we just traded it away with the rest of our future.

I would go after Rondo, he's def better than Lowry. Down sides of picking him up are: will he re-sign?, he's coming back from knee surgery (but so far no complications though), and a backcourt of Rondo and DeMar have a .260 combined career 3fg percentage which is atrocious. To be fair to both of them, they are improving, and shooting career high numbers this season thus far.

With that said, Lowry, first, and something else wouldn't be bad.

Tor gets: Rondo and Felton.
Bos gets: Salmons, Artest, Hardaway Jr, 2014 TOR 1st, 2018 NYK 1st, 2015 Den 1st.
NYK gets: Lowry and Bradley.
Den gets: Shumpert and Udrih.

Surprised so many people would be so eager to aquire a guy who can't shoot, coming off an ACL injury and only one year remaining on his contract.

I just wish Lowry would proclaim his love for Toronto already but of course he has to be political about it ugh
