If we amnesty Kleiza, sign Wright at 4mil per (essentially swapping contracts), would we still have the MLE? Or would we have to stretch Fields?

Ryan Wolstat‏@WolstatSun1h
Raptors currently are just about at lux tax line. Will have to decide if they amnesty Kleiza to sign someone else with that cap space ...

Hoops Hype Canada‏@HoopHypeCanada_56m
Kleiza camp sounds ready if amnestied. Amnesty week is from July 11 to 17. Linas will be on the clock starting tomorrow

Ryan Wolstat @WolstatSun
Should clarify, the NBA numbers will come out sometime between now and Midnight tomorrow. Signing of players can start 12:01 a.m. on 11th

Raps might amnesty Kleiza, and use the cap space to sign Brandan Wright

Yuck! I would have to assume a trade or two would follow?

Lowry/ Stone
DD/ Ross/ Fields
Gay/ Novak/ Fields
Amir/ Wright/ Acy
JV/ Amir/Wright/Gray

^ 12 players sign if Wright is signed.....Then maybe we stretch Fields? I have a feeling we'll go after Dalembert w/Bi annual (2.8mil), then sign a PG w/min

Technically, they would be using the MLE to sign him. Amnestying Keliza just gets them further from the tax so they can use the full MLE without worrying about a) paying tax for no reason or b) bumping up against the apron later in the year.

And don't quote that 11th to 17th amnesty period from Wolstat. I had to correct him - it is the 10th to 16th. Signings can similarly start tonight at midnight.

This is a closer match, and the player I've compared him to in the past.

He's got decent ball handling and explosiveness... and his length is pretty good. The four years 16M is a great deal too.

Full MLE would be a good deal - 4 M per is indeed a great one, if he performs as he has in the recent past.

I still don't like were this all is going.. While I would not mind Wright at all, but I get impression that Ujiri still doesn't know what he wants to do with this team. I hope I'm wrong or at least that he will figure it out asap..

I think he's planning more for next summer when he are in a better position financially. This season might just be about raising value, evaluating.

No way Fields is going to be paid the big $$ and be a 3rd SG/SF. Unless he is going to be our SF off the bench and Novak moves to the PF.

one of our high priced SG's must go, might as well be the one that will bring in more via trade.

Which is probably why the rumor of stretching Fields contract makes some sense.

BTW, is Morrow still available?

This would be a great signing. We are very very thin in the front court.

Wright is still young. Very efficient, high percentages, never turns the ball over, good defender, good role player. I think hes the perfect guy for this team. Doesnt need a lot of touches, and he can actually still be a very very good player in the league.

Martell Webster just got 6million per year. This would be a steal.

It would be wonderful if they are able to have something of the chemistry that Amir had with Ed.
