Raptors have interest in Flynn?

I would guess that if he's considering us we've had contact with him and have interest.

Free-agent guard Jonny Flynn worked out with the Cavaliers on Monday and performed well for General Manager Chris Grant and coach Byron Scott, according to an NBA source. Flynn (6-0, 185) played in 29 games for Portland and Houston last season, averaging 4.5 points and 3.3 assists. He could serve as a backup point guard to Kyrie Irving, thought that slot also could be filled by Donald Sloan, who finished last season in that position. Sloan performed well in the Cavaliers' summer league game Monday, leading a fourth-quarter rally and finishing with 19 points on 5-for-8 shooting.

Flynn also is considering Chicago, Atlanta, Toronto and Orlando, according to an NBA source.

i remember him being very pro-toronto before his draft.

carp 07-18-2012 02:55 PM

he'd be a good risk

he's from niagara falls, so i'm sure he's been introduced to toronto and winter more than a few times.

His rookie season was awesome and he's still young.
There is no way that one's talent will completely disappear during the early 20's
(He's only 23 at the moment, fyi)

If this is for a minimum amount of money and only the first year is guaranteed - why not?

Unfortunately, I am sure he is looking for a longer commitment.

Don Vito 07-18-2012 03:26 PM

If he can stay healthy, sure why not. But I think he will just get injured... :dead:

MikeToronto 07-18-2012 03:28 PM

In other news - I have a nagging feeling that Howard will wind up a Laker very soon. Now, that'd be a scary ass team. Call 'em Huge Four. ;)

That would be his first turnover and training camp hasn't even started yet.:dead::deadhorse:

No way. He hasn't earned it. Nobody will commit if he hasn't proved anything, unless it's the minimum I guess.

I swear we've had like 3 or 4 threads this year on Jonny Flynn being interested in us or vice verca :suspicious:

Indeed. Very bizarre for a player of his track record. As suggested above, if it's a minimum deal, why not? More than that, and I'm not interested. Though this may be moot if we are getting Lucas.

rapsmannn 07-18-2012 11:34 PM

I like his game he could a nice guy to have as a backup. Would rather have flynn over Lucas any day of the week. Could see Flynn trying to go to a team that he could potentially start. The bulls who will have d rose injured. For most of the season

MBailey85 07-19-2012 01:35 AM

I'd like to see the Raptors give him a shot, over JL3

wchoi213 07-19-2012 03:20 AM

We should trade Jose+Davis+@ for Starting SF and get JL3 & Flynn.

Which starting SF are you speaking of?

Not expecting Top tier SFs like LBJ, KD, Melo, PP, etc..

but I want Iggy / Granger / Deng with those trade chips (if not, include any 2nd round picks)

Northern Neighbour 07-19-2012 09:35 AM

Flynn would be a great complement to Lowry. I think he would be a very nice addition.

Flynn is likely looking for a team that will give him PT. As such, unless Toronto deal Calderon, I think Flynn goes elsewhere. But if Calderon is dealt, then the Raptors' odds improve and likely significantly.

halphbreedballer 07-25-2012 08:03 AM

I would rather Flynn than Lucus III.
